    January 2017
The month started well with plenty of cod and whiting coming out but with the freshwater from the snow melt coming into the river it slowed the fishing down.
We ventured out on to the Banks up through the Rock Channelling for cod but only managed Whiting we still had 4 double figure Cod the best being released to live again on another day Micky and Ian battled it out for the pool both with double figures fish see pic below

    Jan 2017 by Gary Flint

Jan 2017 1st set of tides complete
This winter has produced more double figure Cod for us than any other year. We have had days when we have landed plenty of Cod and Whiting with the odd Thorn back ray.we have found that once the tide rises to over 29ft it use to be 28.5 ft t the flow on the river is too much for people to hold bottom and there is a lot of debris in the water ,the river seems to have alteredslightly and a 29ft is fishable on the flood although the numbers of fish are less and the tangles increase.
Most of our fish have fallen to lug and squid cocktail below is a 13lbs 8oz Cod caught on Linas trip
we still have trips left for February some weekends

    Dec 2016 by Gary Flint

We would like to wish all of our Customers / Friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Bookings for next year are filling fast we even have 6 trips in for next December so if you fancy a trip book early to avoid disappointment.
This year produced some really good Tope fishing with our best being 52lbs and our smallest 38lbs
the Wrecks produced some nice Pollack,Ling and Cod. The smooth hound fishing produced plenty with our best at 14lbs. Some species trips produced 17 different types of fish which is very good considering the guys were using all of our rods and tackle.
The Winter Cod fishing is half way through now and what a year its been with many 10lbs plus fish coming out all over the river. The Whiting have been in in there masses with some excellent scores in some of our Whiting comps that we have held on the Bank have resulted in one angler winning with 54 fish.
Thanks for your support through out the year All The Best.
    Gary and Lynne.

    Aug 2016 by Gary Flint

    August 2016
August started off well with Tope to 48lbs being taken,
but with the weather again this year being against us we struggled to chase offshore when we did we had plenty of Mackerel some of the smallest i have seen the wrecks produced Pollack and Ling and all the usual stuff.one day i remember is finishing Tope fishing and just trying a drift on a wreck and all rods bent over into Pollack not very big big but around the 5lb mark it was nice to see the lads using our gear to have one drift and all catching a pollack
We where still catching Tope towards the end of August although they are moving further offshore now,
fishing inshore we are still catching smoothounds, dogs Plaice ,dabs, the Rock Channel this year produced Huss to 12lbs and rays to 10lbs and loads of small Tope which is a nice sign we even had Mackerel with one night on the way in a massive shoal was erupting out off the water no more than 500mts from Perch Rock light house .
well the Winter is nearly upon us we have only a few dates left for the Cod fishing the River has to offer in the winter months Gary the skipper
Picture to the right is Johnathon Lamb with a 43lb Tope.

    Jul 2016 by Gary Flint

    July 2016
The weather has again been upside down for July we can have a day of flat oil like sea,
And then within mins of arriving back into the marina it was blowing 30 kts then the next 3 days would be blown off, then it might drop off for a couple of days then return for a few days well that is the British Summer for you.July started well with a good supply of bait fish, with good catches of Bull Huss,Dogs, Rays and all other species we have had Smoothhounds to 14.8 lbs We have tried to concentrate on the tope but with them being so far off shore the weather has to be favorable When we travel so far we tend to stop off on the way back and have a go for smaller stuff to break the trip up, our Tope trips have produced fish between 36lbs and 50lbs with the most in one day this year being into double figures, although we still have the story of one that was on for over 25mins and lost it 80 mts from the boat never mind thats fishing. Fingers crossed the wind settles.

17 Apr 2016 by Gary Flint

    Sunday 17th of April
We left the Marina and headed offshore the wind was gusting 18kts wnw, i explained to the lads that it might be a bit rock and roll and that we could fish inshore if they wanted but they opted to for a mark 28 miles out well only 6 of the 11 booked turned up.
But they had paid so we set off. we arrived at our first wk to be down to 5 as one had fallen to the green monster we had a few drifts just producing small stuff ,Pollack,Pouting,Poor cod Whiting, one of the guys lost a nice fish close to the boat,we where now down to 4 as last nights session in the pub kicked in so we where well of shore fishing the wrecks with 4 people oops no i forgot we went down to 3 people as the others where talking to Neptune over the side asking for help and stuff like that The moral of the Story is dont go on a bender the night before it Cloggs up the fishing and clouds the water mind you as i was taught by a well known skipper in Caernarfon John Moore if there is Snow on the hills its too early to fish offshore the lads that stayed for the duration did ok under the conditions of a 1.5mtr sea
    Gary the Skipper
i still have some dates in May The first smoothounds which should arrive shortly

16 Apr 2016 by Gary Flint

    Saturday the 16th of April.
We left the marina with the intentions to scratch around the River for any Cod that may still be about and Rays
Some of the lads and Shellie opted straight for Cod with big pennel baits some opted to target Dabs and Whiting well most of the Lads caught into double figures with 14 plus whiting the odd Dab, Thornback Ray,Dog fish and 1 Codling at just under 4lbs The shock of the day was Pete Shorrack taking the pool, my bet was on his wife Shellie she always beats him but never the less a nice days fishing with every body catching off shore tomorrow lets see what that brings
