in search of Cod and Pollack, the Cod have been very elusive this season on the wrecks, only some small ones
caught on bait while ground fishing.
So it was down to the Pollack to give some sport and they did, Big bob from London, on his first fishing trip
caught a 14lb Pollack, said he enjoyed catching his fish but would be his last, he was feeling sick for the rest
of the day .
Another Bob on his Birthday trip caught five Pollack, a 14lb 6oz Pollack, the best of the day.
Thanks to Bob, Bob, Bob, Mark Paul, John and Peter.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Yellowfin

Friday night I ran a charter for one of my friends and a couple of his work pals.
The tides were still a bit lively then, with colour in the water and the trip being a few hours i stayed handy and took the lads uptiding.
we took a 15 minute cruise out the harbour to our first mark where we settled in to anchor at the very start of the tide, it took a while getting going, but we didnt have to wait long for the bites.
we picked steady away for a hour or so taking 15 Cod from our first mark.
then we moved a couple of times taking a few fish each time. by the end of the trip the lads had amassed a good 25 cod to take home between them, we pulled back into our mooring just as it was getting dark, a very enjoyable few hours was enjoyed by all.
bait used was squid and black lug worm,
Andy and his pals from Boulby Potash Mine are pictured with a few of their fish. -

Report on-board Incentive
The fishing at the moment is as expected for the time of year... whiting, dabs, dogs ,a few codling and a few huss. If the weather stays mild the fishing should improve towards the end of the month with the start of the summer species arriving. Fingers crossed for some settled weather!

Fishing Report by Les Jones
on White Maiden II (Lymington, Hampshire)

Report on-board White Maiden II
A lovely week (includin four Calshot Lifeboat Launches) was followed by a miserable weekend which looked OK for the Saturday Trident SAC crew. In reality the mist, drizzle and a building sea followed by proper rain and a lot of voracious dogfish made for a hard day for the keen regulars. It wasn't cold though and we were in the right places and you certainly can't catch anything sat at home! Bob managed to break through the dogfish for a decent Spotted Ray but there were far too many dogfish on the Ray marks.

A possible excuse for not catching, I believe, is that in a sloppy sea and shallow water (less than 45') the waves that bang the hulls increases the scare zone around the boat. Up-tiding is easy with long rods and fixed spool reels and is the best way to get out the scare zone. Otherwise working a very light lead well down tide is good. Or you could add a balloon to float your bait down tide, then jerk it free but in my opinion that can't be good for the environment and is basically littering the sea. Maybe a bit of wood will be more environmentally friendly (I'm serious about that).
Yesterday John Skeggs was on an early start and went 9 miles but as the tide and sea built they came back inside too. Out deep were Spurrs, Blondes and Congers! I'm looking forward to testing these banks on Thursday as we have a small tide and the promise of some decent weather. I still have 4 spaces at £50ppUPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD White Maiden II
