Report on-board High Flyer 2
Lovely start to the day for once, flat sea ,forcast of wind later, perfect tide , pleasure to be out. With the tides being on the strong side the deeper water wasnt a option today especially with talk of wind later so decided to start near the Holm channel. Had a nice little session with whiting from the off, few nice flatties , few spotty dogs and a nice little thornback caught by Steve who put it back as it was female well done for being conservation minded. Went a bit slow so headed north up the Roads to a little hole i use in these situations few whiting again but the weed was just killing us . Moved back again right inside off Gorleston beach as the wind was getting up making the situation a bit lumpy. Plenty of whiting again and more flatties , picture today with some of the fish, the better looking anglers onboard, Kim,Jemma, and Racheal, thanks to Mike and Dave, also Shannon and Steve and Collin. Was an enjoyable day pity no codling again but plenty of other stuff to catch, appreciate you all coming out on the High Flyer. All the best. Jon.

Weather has kept us inshore for the last few weeks but the fishing has still been interesting with some nice autumn Thornbacks up to 12 lbs, lots of quality Whiting and a few Codling being caught on every trip. Cod fishing will get better from now on as the water temperature starts to drop. When the weather improves hopefully we can get offshore and find some bigger fish.I still have some weekend dates available in the next two months so why not treat yourself to an early Christmas present and give me ring.

It was the first day or our Uptiding Festival here at Whitby, the conditions were far from perfect making it tricky day getting on our marks.
Everyone had an enjoyable day with us taking in excess of 40 Cod. Nothing big to report though unfortunately, we had several upto 4lb in weight, the majority weighing between 2lb and 4lb
Well done guys -

I had a group of mates visiting Whitby and they wanted a shorter trip for the afternoon sorting out.
We got a few more booked on too.
first couple of spots were a bit slow so we moved until we came across a few fish, we managed around 20 Cod for the trip, which I didnt think was too bad.
One of our regular lads Mick Thurlow bought his grandson Zak along, who caught his 1st Cod, Mick has since said he was over the moon with his first Cod. The first on many mate, well done
Pictured is Zak with his first Cod -

The winter storms will be bringing in the Cod & Whiting, problem being its the weekends when the wind blows the most.

Huge shoals of Herring around now making great bait for the Skate but lifting the Cod off the bottom making them difficult to catch on rod & line while the netters clean up. Still plenty of Bass around but again they are chasing the herring. Thankfully the Skate are quite happy on the bottom and are our main catch at the moment along with Whiting and Doggies. As the herrings move on so things should return to normal giving us a better chance with the Cod & Bass.
Winter baits remain squid, lug & herring with crab being a fine bait if you can locate some.
Pic shows Mark & Alan with a couple of nice Skate landed today. -

Report on-board Goldilocks
Climbed aboard Goldilocks 9:30 am to be greeted with the friendly skipper and a cup of tea.Sailed out of the lock 9:45 onto the river mersey. bit weird as we had the Mersey to ourselves.Ten souls on board 9 of us and the skipper.Mixture of regular anglers and rod hires. After dropping the anchor on one of his hot spots within ten minutes the fish started to come in my first was the customary dog fish then the rays came we must have caught 30+ between us along with loads of dabs whiting and dogs. Everyone was very happy loads of tea, coffee, bacon sandwiches and plenty of fish. Gwynie and the regular anglers helped the rod hires when required they picked it up quick and gave gwynie the thumbs up for a return trip as we all did. The weather was spot on had a bit of rain no wind except for the odd guff. Gwynie lent out a couple of jackets to forgetful anglers. Remember to wrap up well as we all know the consequences. Thanks gwynie we had a great time and as arnie said"we will be back" or something like that
