    Report on-board Mistress

    Friday 1st November - 4 hour trip

I had a group of mates visiting Whitby and they wanted a shorter trip for the afternoon sorting out.
We got a few more booked on too.

first couple of spots were a bit slow so we moved until we came across a few fish, we managed around 20 Cod for the trip, which I didnt think was too bad.

One of our regular lads Mick Thurlow bought his grandson Zak along, who caught his 1st Cod, Mick has since said he was over the moon with his first Cod. The first on many mate, well done

Pictured is Zak with his first Cod

    Report on-board Duke IV

The winter storms will be bringing in the Cod & Whiting, problem being its the weekends when the wind blows the most.
Huge shoals of Herring around now making great bait for the Skate but lifting the Cod off the bottom making them difficult to catch on rod & line while the netters clean up. Still plenty of Bass around but again they are chasing the herring. Thankfully the Skate are quite happy on the bottom and are our main catch at the moment along with Whiting and Doggies. As the herrings move on so things should return to normal giving us a better chance with the Cod & Bass.
Winter baits remain squid, lug & herring with crab being a fine bait if you can locate some.
Pic shows Mark & Alan with a couple of nice Skate landed today.

    Report on-board Goldilocks

Climbed aboard Goldilocks 9:30 am to be greeted with the friendly skipper and a cup of tea.Sailed out of the lock 9:45 onto the river mersey. bit weird as we had the Mersey to ourselves.Ten souls on board 9 of us and the skipper.Mixture of regular anglers and rod hires. After dropping the anchor on one of his hot spots within ten minutes the fish started to come in my first was the customary dog fish then the rays came we must have caught 30+ between us along with loads of dabs whiting and dogs. Everyone was very happy loads of tea, coffee, bacon sandwiches and plenty of fish. Gwynie and the regular anglers helped the rod hires when required they picked it up quick and gave gwynie the thumbs up for a return trip as we all did. The weather was spot on had a bit of rain no wind except for the odd guff. Gwynie lent out a couple of jackets to forgetful anglers. Remember to wrap up well as we all know the consequences. Thanks gwynie we had a great time and as arnie said"we will be back" or something like that

    October Report 2013
October started slow with a couple of trips early on plagued with Dogfish catching into the 100s luckily the Thornback Rays moved in with plenty being caught and the Whiting following closely behind with many anglers catching 20 fish each,as the month has drawn to an end Codling are starting to show now so by the next set of tides we would expect to be taking decent Cod,we can only assume that the Cod are several weeks late just like the Mackerel where in the Summer never mind thats fishing

    Report on-board Discovery

Individs day. 31 of October 2013 ,Today we left the marina giving the usual safety brief and heading to lock out, i got chatting to the lads and 1 lady , about what fish they had caught and was informed by Dieter he had never caught a Cod and his son Alex had never caught a ray ,so i explained that the Cod had not arrived in any numbers yet but we would do our best,We settled on the mark which i thought would give us our best chance of cod ,after they had been shown how we present the bait they all began fishing we had plenty of Whiting to 1.5 lbs straight away, we had Thornback rays Dabs and 5 Codling the best 3 lbs 2 oz
DIETER HAD HIS FIRST COD 2.5 LBS 2OZ WHO HAD NOT FISHED FOR 9 YEARS Due to having his leg amputated due to a problem whilst in hospital he fished all day on a prosthetic limb well done Dieter absolute Insperation to us all.
Alan had a Cod of 3lb2oz
Chris 9lbs 8 oz thornback ray personal best. Well done.
H from Coventry lost a big fish whilst being distracted .
overall a great day with plenty of Laughs and banter see you all again

    Report on-board Discovery

    Tuesday 29th October Alans group
We left the marina and headed out to try and catch some fish for the table, we arrived at our mark for the morning and the lads where baiting the rigs up whilst the boat settled on the anchor,as soon as the 1st bait had touched the bottom Whiting began attacking it the fish started flying in with some of the whiting touching 1.5 lbs,These being closely followed by Thornback rays and Codling to 3lb 1oz. The fishing was like this all day so the lads opted to stay put and not move resulting in 15 rays to 9lbs 3 oz and possible 80 to 90 whiting
