  • 04/07/2010 Fishing Report by paul sykes on Trojan Warrior (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

4 Jul 2010 by paul sykes

    Report on-board Trojan Warrior

Saturday and Sunday have been brilliant days for deep sea fishing here at Whitby.
We must have had 6 or 7 double hook ups of cod, during some fast paced fishing in the course of the day, with regular deckings of fine cod and ling. Only problem being the profusion of mackerel, necessitating
the removal of any hooks except the bottom one, in order to get down to the sea bed.
Its wild today (Sunday) so had to cancel, but the fish are here to stay now with any luck.

  • 04/07/2010 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

4 Jul 2010 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

June has seen some cracking cod fishing continue on the wrecks, combined with some cracking summer Pollack. Large numbers of Pollack over 15lb's has been a very welcome adition indeed. Some good sessions on the anchor on the wrecks has seen good numbers of congers to 60lb. The reefs are still showing some good congers, tope and huss and with the arrival of the first summer bream we have certainly been kept busy. The last spring tides saw the arrival of the first bass with live sandeels all important. Long may this cracking spell of weather continue and the fishing go from strength to stgrength, Again, thanks to all for their continued support. Congratulations go to Mike Elvy for winning this months Supanova fish of the month with his PB Pollack of 22lb!

    Tight lines,

    Lyle

  • 02/07/2010 Fishing Report by David Hancock on Excel 2 (Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire)

2 Jul 2010 by David Hancock

    Report on-board Excel 2

The fishing has been awesome inshore at Ramsgate with catches in excess of 40 Thornback rays on some recent trips. Its good to see a growing amount of anglers are keeping just a few and returning lots as these fish are slow breeders and go back quite happily.
The smoothounds seem to be slowing down at the moment but are more than compensated by the numbers of Bass. It seems at the moment that a bumper year is on the cards despite the mackeral shoals being finicky.

On one of our popular evening trips Katje and Lilly both caught nice skate of 6 to 9 lb then the boys redeemed themselves by catching a bass or two on the way back to port.

    Happy Days,
    Dave.
