Report on-board Sea Otter 2
Had all regular lads onboard yesterday with a good forcast the last one for a while by the look of things i decide to have a steam out the 20 mile the cod fishing at this time can be a little bit better out there than inshore around this time thats because its just alive with masses of food for the cod inshore and they can become a little bit picky the ling are in droves at the moment they feed like mad as the herring shoals have now arrived and just gorge themselves .

The Turbot and Brill fishing has been amazing this week. Really Wrecked SAC from Lewes had a cracking day out Turbot and Brill fishing. They caught their club record Turbot of 21lb 4oz, caught by Phil Brooks from Haywards Heath. He caught it on an offshore sandbank using a mackerel fillet. Total catch on the day was 42 Turbot and 12 Brill up to 7lb, they put 8 Turbot back to sea alive as they were on the small side. This is Phil Brooks with club record catch. There are more pictures on my latest news page on www.oceanwarrior3.com.

It's that ling time of year again lads!!
Plenty of ling showing all over the place with a good number into double figures. Sadly not a great number of cod here at present but I fancy when the herring start spawning ( which won't be too far away ) we'll see an influx of those too.
The weather here is still making the fishing a sheer pleasure with flat calm days upon us again for a few more days.
Just a quick note lads,
The dates for next years competitions are now open and we are taking bookings for them now as well as all other general fishing days. We have the 2014 diary and tide tables now for all bookings.
They are :-
Spring April 5th - 20th inc
Summer :- June 21st - July 13th inc
Late summer :- Sept 13th - 28th inc
Dates are starting to go already so get your trips sorted and booked for another chance of the big money!!
Tight lines to one and all,

Fishing Report by Malcolm Collins
on Just Mary (Christchurch, Dorset)

Report on-board Just Mary
Apologies to those of you who regularly read my Fishing Reports on this site but I've been on Holiday abroad to visit the in-laws ! Anyway I'm back now so here goes ! One report that I should have done before leaving these shores was of the last weekend in July. Saturday 27/7 a Hire rod party enjoyed sport with plenty of Tope and a nice Undulate Ray of 18lb 0oz for Anoush Shamsaie on his first ever boat fishing trip. 'Anyone Can Fish' and catch Specimen sized fish on 'Just Mary'.....we prove it time and time again.....! Sunday 28/7 saw some poor weather conditions develop but the lads and lass from down Yeovil way still had good sport with Bass, Mackerel, Plaice, Dogfish, and other Summer Species both outside and in the Harbour. So Holiday..... then back to Fishing Trips.....On Saturday 31/8 a Hire rod party again had good sport catching Tope and a Specimen sized Undulate Ray of 18lb 4oz for Gary Gunning from Swindon, another personal best. Sunday 1/9 saw us pushing further offshore to a lovely mark only accessible on real neap tides off the Jurassic Coast. A great day's fishing was had by the three regulars, Kev the Chippie, Johnnie the Brickie and his mate Gary from Southampton who were joined by six Hire rod Anglers including two who drove from Birmingham ! We had Conger to 40lb plus, an Undulate for Johnnie of 12lb 8oz plus several other good ones lost by the Hire rod lads ('patience lads, take your time, don't try and winch them in'.....How many times did I say it !!!) , good Bream in good numbers nudging the 3lb mark, Tub and Red Gurnard, Tope, Doggies, Pout, Whiting, Scad, Mackerel, and a big edible crab.....to name just a few of the many species we landed......'Hectic !'.....as Kev the Chippie said.....! Then a Youth Club trip on Monday for the Townsend Youth ......good lads and we caught fish.....again......I keep saying it and eventually it will sink in......'Anyone Can Fish' on 'Just Mary'......AND catch fish.....listen and you will learn.....and come back for more.....!

the last week has been a fairly productive one we have been averaging 30 to 40 fish for the boat per day, with us seeing plenty of fish into double figures as you would expect at this time of year and another wolf fish!
We have seen more wolf fish this year than I ever remember seeing in any season. the lucky lad was very surprised to see it, Its always a pleasure to see different species onboard, this particular one setting a new boat record for Mistress

Report on-board Duke IV
The days are drawing in and the Whiting have arrived in numbers, many are small, making good feed for Bass and Cod while the larger ones make a fine meal for us, fried in a light batter.

A fresh run of Skate will arrive during autumn and stay with us throughout the winter, they can be caught on herring that will also start showing soon. The Hounds are moving offshore now and will take crab bait as they leave.
A recent visit to the wrecks proved tough with a northerly wind making fishing difficult although some nice Cod and Pollack were landed by Harry and Phil. With continuing good weather trips offshore can prove worthwhile with Cod stopping off on the wrecks as they come inshore for the winter.
Mackerel fishing remains excellent with some real beefy fish feasting on the sandeels, great for the bbq.
Looking forward, the fishing should remain busy with lots of Whiting along with Cod, Skate and Dabs and of course the ever present Doggies.
Pic shows Luke with a nice Thornback.
