    Report on-board Lady Helen

Sailed with 3 anglers on board, tried a couple of marks with mixed results of small flatties and loads of doggies, so moved to an inshore mark looking for some plaice and better flatties and boy did we find them well over 200 fish mainly nice dads with a dozen or so plaice, so the lads have fish for tea for a few days.

    Report on-board Mistress

First of our 3 trips with Richard this year. Weather settled although not as settled as I first thought when we set, and this determined where we should fish. Our party consisted af 6 anglers on their first ever sea angling trip, along with 5 more experienced guys. Novice anglers supplied with top notch rods and reels by Richard. I know the fishing has been hard in the past few weeks, but as usual Richard tried a number of spots and although no great quantities codling were coming up to both sidewinders and baited rigs. A couple of small ling, a number of whiting. pouting and a scorpion fish. Sea flattened off as the day weny on and the sun shone, what more do you want if the fishing is tough. As usual Richard was a good laugh and helped our new anglers with good adice and some even managed to catch a cod or two. Looking foward to our trip during the summer festival.

    02.06.2013.

Happy days!!! The water is finally clearing on the inside!!

Today we started on the ground on the 9 mile and basically sat there all day. A bit jowelly to start the day but as the tide eased so did the breeze making for a lovely day at sea.

Codling and Pollack on the ground taking both the shad and the bait. Between 40 and fish for the day so all in all not too bad.

Lets hope that is the end of the dreaded "bloom" and we start to see it picking up on the more inner marks here at Whitby too. Indications are pointing in the right direction now. Here's hoping!!

John Wilson is pictured with a couple of his fish.

Nice to have some good weather and go out a bit further than normal. Lets just say some people had a better trip than others but on the whole most had several nice pollack.Putting in a few miles seems to be paying off as not much showing up on the inshore marks.Well done Dave great trip hope you enjoyed winning your cup.

  • 02/06/2013 Fishing Report by Carl Davies on Gwen-Paul-M (Conwy, Conwy)

2 Jun 2013 by Carl Davies

    Report on-board Gwen-Paul-M

    ALL THE DUCKS LINED UP!!

Its not often they all line up, but they did today. We sailed, with Royal Tottington SAC, from Bury, on a 10 hour offshore wreck trip this morning, encountering calm seas with a light air from the north west. The ebb tide carried us down to the west and we tried a couple of wrecks but the fishing was a little slow with a few small pollack.

We ventured a little further out and our new spot produced 4 nice pollack to 7lb on the first drift. Consistent fishing saw pollack falling to many different artificials, notably 6 inch white sidewinders having the edge. The fishing fell away as the ebb slacked so we moved further out again. The final wreck gave the best fishing of the day, over low water, with 5-6 fish a drift not uncommon. The lads ended up with well over 100 pollack up to 8 lb with the main stamp of fish between 4-6lb.

A long steam home, carrying back the flood, in the sunshine, went by quickly as the lads busied themselves filleting their catch.

Great fishing, weather and a good bit of banter thrown in, a day that will be hard to beat, thanks lads.

Reports from inshore today tell of an early showing of tope with one of 30lb landed on another charter boat from Conwy.

We have still not caught one mackerel yet as water temperatures still struggle to get to 10 degrees but hopefully they will arrive soon.

I have space for one on a two day Isle of Man trip 30th June - 1st July, £165, including Band B, if anyone fancies a short angling break.

    Jun 2013 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    01.06.2013.

My old mate Nigel Hall and his mates joined us today from Richmondshire. They were joined by another couple of regulars on the boat from West Yorks, Graham Stansfield and Dave Taylor.

After the previous days result we went straight back to the "Wall" and fished pretty much the same as the day before.

No record breakers and no vast quantity but a steady picking resulted in around the 50 fish mark again. Twenty of these being Pollack to around 6lb.

Nigel ended up with 8 Cod and a Pollack. The best fish of the day fell to Dave Taylor from Bradford, a Cod of 6lb 6oz.

    Dave is pictured.
