Group of 4 on a shared charter. First time out of Whitby and on Mistress. Absolutely superb day - though Rich wasn't too impressed as it was slower fishing than more recent trips. Nevertheless, for me and the Mrs it was our best trip ever and we've done a few , but on NW side. My son and his G/Dad have been here before on other boats but they were also very impressed- they agreed it was slow to produce but, it isn't all about the amount you bring over. This skipper is far and beyond the best we have been with. Seriously better! He is full bore on his game and really knows his stuff-SO DO HIM THE COURTESY OF LISTENING TO AND FOLLOWING HIS ADVICE - it will catch you fish. From the outset this skipper impressed- I only have one leg and a prosthetic but Rich made getting aboard and off a doddle (big thanks for that Rich) the rest of the trip I was treated no differently which really helps me enjoy a trip and not feel the subject of everyone's stares (coz it does happen as its human nature to). Also, if he tells you to take some bait please do it. I can attest to the mackrel simply not being there in sufficient numbers. So if you want the trip to stand a chance of catching TAKE SOME BAIT IF ASKED TO. Unlike a lot of trips I've been on , Rich genuinely covers ground and wrecks in the hunt for fish. A lot of it too. But he does it in such a way as to make the time travelling as minimal as poss so you have a rod in the water for as long as possible. Everything he does is for the benefit of the angler which I thought was clearly the case-and it can be a rare thing that if being honest. Fish caught was more than acceptable and in my case my best trip. I had 6 keeper cod from 4to 6lb (put a few back and lost 2 good ones) 3 superb Ling from 4 - 7lb with pouting and mackrel chucked in between - similar numbers caught by my other group and the whole boat too i believe with a couple if fish making 2nd place for the day in the comp. So if this is an an off day in these waters then a crazy day would be exhausting! A brilliant day and well worth a repeat booking we all reckon. Hopefully in sept - just planning whats what before we commit a booking. Finally a big THANKYOU to Biscuit (deckhand) who was really attentive and helpfull- well worth a small tip of just a fiver from us - HINT HINT PEOPLE! See you very soon Rich.
Skippers Reponse: Crikey thats a hell of a review! thanks Dieter, I'm glad you all enjoyed your day with us, I look forward to seeing you all again, all the very best mate, Rich
Another great day out with Rich for me and some friends - everyone on board had plenty of fish, mainly on shads but a few using baited hokis or daylights. I had 18 codling but only kept the biggest 8, returning the rest which were nearly all above the legal size but we can only eat so many! A shortened day too, because of rough weather, but we had more fish than a normal full day so nobody was unhappy!
Skippers Reponse: Thanks for all your reviews keith, always a pleasure having you guys onboard, see you all again soon mate, Rich
Out fishing with a couple of friends on Richard's boat Mistress. A glorious day, calm waters, lots of fish and probably the best skipper in Whitby. Richard does his utmost to put everyone on the fish. I have tried other boats in Whitby, but since trying Mistress for the first time a couple of years ago, I just wouldn't go anywhere else. Thanks for a brilliant day once again Rich.
Skippers Reponse: Thanks for a great review Shams, Its always a pleasure having you guys onboard, thanks for the spicy snacks too! I look forward to seeing again soon mate, All the best, Rich
Cracking day out on Saturday, in doubt to start with due to weather but Rich went for it and it paid off. Everyone caught even the first timers which made their day, Rich worked his socks off , constantly looking for fish, helping out and having banter with the lads. Our second trip on Mistress and we will be back !
Skippers Reponse: Thanks for the cracking feedback Neil, It was an enjoyable day in top company mate, See you again soon, Cheers, Rich
