Boat and Skipper Details
Alliance operates all year round- fishing wrecks and reefs from Spring through to Summer as well as Winter Uptiding.
The Whitby boat fishing peak season is Summer when we fish the many wrecks that are prolific off the waters of Whitby as well as some of the best cod grounds in the UK.
We run trips of between 8 and 12 hours- call us with your requirements and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Our peak season trips generally sail at 7am with Winter uptiding trips setting off between 7 and 8.30am.
The boat fishing off Whitby is fantastic for cod all year round, while Autumn is great for double figure ling, Late Spring for some beautiful pollock and Summer sees mackerel, gurnard, haddock and catfish (woof) all feature in the catches.
If you need hire gear we have quality set ups available and can give advice on what terminal tackle and bait you will need for your trip.
On top of an excellent days fishing, you are likely to encounter some incredible marine wildlife, with dolphins, porpoise and minke whales all regularly sighted off Whitby.
Alliance will typically have 10-12 anglers on board during peak periods, but our close relationship with sister boat TROT ON means that we can combine our capacities to cater for larger groups such as stag parties, family occasions, corporate teambuilding or angling club outings.
As a member of the Whitby Charter Skippers Association we will be fishing in the Spring, Summer and Autumn festivals with the aim of putting our anglers onto the amazing cash prizes on offer that are up to an amazing £5000 for 1st place in the Summer Festival
Skipper Shaun Elwick is well known in Whitby for his ability to put both visiting and local anglers onto some great fishing. Whether beginner or novice, he gives 100% in ensuring your day afloat is some of the best Whitby boat fishing the port has to offer.
He brings a lifetime of experience with him on every trip, having worked as both a charter skipper and crew hand for over 30 years on boats such as Alliance’s sister vessel Trot On and Colin Freeman’s Saxon Lady.
He knows the ground and wrecks off Whitby like the back of his hand and as such knows the intricate details such as tide size and seasons that can make a mark fish at its very best.
Shaun welcomes experts and novices alike, and is generous in sharing the immense angling knowledge he has gained throughout his lifetime.
Whether its big Autumn ling, powerful pollock on jellies or the hectic Summer cod fishing- Shaun will always endeavour to put you onto the best fishing and best fish available on the day

group of 6 had a fantastic day with the alliance. A 15lb ling and a mix of pollock, cod ,whiting and pouting ,. boat was comfortable plenty of space and the captain Shaun was very helpful and knowledgeable. would definitely recommend and hopefully we will be back at some point .Ty Shaun

Been fishing more than 30 years and never have we found a better skipper never stops helping you

This weekend I had the pleasure to have Carl Justin rob and Sean charter the boat for 2 days in an attempt to find a winning fish in the last 2 days of our uptideing festival on Saturday we we're picking away steady then we had to go to the aid of another boat that had a fouled propeller cutting our Day a bit short,on Sunday fishing was a bit slow with plenty of species coming up with the lads even boating a haddock each Sean had a cod off 6 pound 12 ounce taking the heaviest fish of the last daily price in the festival unfortunately falling short of the overall winning fish in the festival a ling of 8 pound 9 ounce taking the top prize of £1000 on board mistress congratulations to Rob gillings on his winning fish, I would just like to thank the lads again for a great weekend and hopefully see you again shortly thanks Shaun Alliance charters Whitby

This weekend we had Carl Sean and Justin charter the boat on Saturday we headed south to hayburn whyke with the wind and tide it was hard work until the ebb tide got going with a steady run of fish between 4 and 7 pound the lads keeping 30 of the better fish with a few returned,on Sunday we headed south again only too find a smaller run of fish with the lads keeping 30 of the better fish again with plenty of small fish returned Sean catching a nice Pollock it was Great banter with the lads from Bedfordshire as usual hopefully see you later in the year Shaun Alliance charters Whitby, if anyone fancies a trip just give me a call on 07721670810

This weekend we had Carl and the lads from Bedfordshire taking the boat.
Fishing was steady away,best cod weighed 9lb caught by Carl. Plenty of good banter with the lads. Weather permitting see you again in two weeks!
