    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

    Kev Finch and three of his mates booked the boat today. We spent the day fishing at anchor uptiding/downtiding.

    We started off in 15m of water and picked off four Codling in fairly short order, then it went quiet (which has been the pattern on the last couple of trips). We had a move to another area of slightly deeper water with a bit more tide and that did the trick. We picked away nicely for the rest of the day. Both the Ebb and the Flood tide produced well, with Codling up to just shy of 5lb.

    Tactics were the same as always; sliding 6oz breakaway lead and a 3-4ft 50lb hooklenth with a pennel arangement. Bait was the ever faithful Unwashed Squid and Black Lugworm cocktail, but today the fish definitley wanted the squid. Smaller hookbaits were more readily accepted and we ended the day with everyone taking a fair few fish.
