    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

    Happy New Year…..I hope that 2022 will be a brilliant year for everyone. I’m really looking forward to meeting customers, both new and old this year.

    2021 was a year of ups and downs, but when we had the weather conditions and tides in our favour, we managed to pick up some pretty decent fish. The biggest Cod of 2021 to come over the rails on Sea Urchin fell to Jamie Skow at 20lb 4oz; with Jim Lister picking up our biggest Ling at 19lb 8oz. Both great examples of what can still be caught off Whitby.

    Big fish aside, some of my most enjoyable days at sea were seeing less experienced (or brand new) anglers, who were using my hire tackle, catching some belting fish. I love teaching/coaching new anglers and there is no better buzz for me than seeing them improve their angling skills and catch a big fish; hopefully making them an angler for life.

    I’m so excited about what 2022 will bring. Will the weather be good? Will the water be in good condition? Will the fish play ball?

    I genuinely don’t have the answers, but to coin an old cliché “that’s why it’s called fishing, not catching”. One thing I can guarantee, I’ll work my “bits” off to try and help everyone land the fish of their dreams.
