    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    Scratched around all over again yesterday for a bare picking.
    Plenty of Mackerel to start the day as usual, then out to a tiny wreck 3 miles off to drop on slack water.
    I thought we’d cracked it on the first drop when 6 fish came up immediately with a double up of Codling for Nick Ball too! Young Oscar from Richmond took a nice little Ling at 5lb 4oz which he was well pleased with. Two or three more drops on it proving fruitless really with just another 3 or 4 more fish. Total tally for the day, around 20 fish.
    After the tide got running that was it really and we scratted around for a very odd fish here and there.
    As I mentioned in my previous report, the amount of herring in the water here at Whitby at the moment is mad. We took a Codling yesterday which came up with a full herring hanging out of its mouth! The amount of feed this time of the year always makes things a little slow for us. This is why it’s called “fishing” and not “catching!”
