    Report on-board Gwen-Paul-M

A trip to the offshore wrecks last Saturday (31st March) resulted in some good pollack fishing for the time of year, in the end. We had to steam a long way offshore to find fish, ending up closer to the Isle of Man. Pollack average 3-4lb with the odd one in the 7-8lb range. Fishing was good over low water and first of the flood but did go off on the flood. We had some big pouting too, one of which I filleted off and shallow fried for my tea. Even pouts can taste good if they are kept well on board ;).

The water temperature is on the rise, about 9 degrees over the weekend so it won't be long now before the season starts proper. I now have a thermometer linked to the echosounder and it was interesting to note that during February the water temperature was as low as 6 degrees!
