    Report on-board Just Mary

Report :May 2014 'Just Mary' from Poole.
May this year has seen some good periods of weather and some awful, unforecast days when trips have been altered or modified to suit the unsettled weather conditions. Good weather days afloat have been followed by a total 'sea change' in conditions the very next day and vice-versa. In general the good days have produced some good catches of our favourite Black Bream, a species very familiar to visiting Anglers and local Skippers alike. Other Species have also been landed regularly, Smoothound, Bass and Mackerel have all been landed by Anglers aboard 'Just Mary' along with Undulate and Spotted Rays. This last Bank Holiday weekend in May produced two cancellations, Friday and Saturday, followed by two trips, Sunday and BH Monday (today). The first trip was totally at odds to the Met. Office forecast but Ballard Reef, between Old Harry Rocks and Ballard Ledge, provided some sheltered conditions and after a slow start came good with Black Bream and Bass to worm/squid cocktail baits. BH Monday (today) produced a lovely calm day and a mixed bag of many Species including this fine Tope (photo) to Carp Angler Tom from Blandford plus nice Bream to 3lb, Undulate and Spotted Rays, Smoothound, Plaice, Gurnard, Mackerel, Whiting, Pouting and Dogfish.
At present no two days are the same and we all look forward to a settled spell of weather to allow us to fish those marks that will produce good fish at this time of year, all the best, Malc, Owner/Skipper 'Just Mary', Poole.
