Report on-board Dawn Venture
period 1-10 august......
summer storms have hampered the fishing but when able to get out, plenty of fish have been caught.
the codling remain prolific though the average size has fallen to about 2.5lb and haddock appear to be everywhere and in good numbers though they are mainly just under the legal limit...we have had a lot of sizeable fish with the best going a shade under 3lb.
the herring put in an appearance on friday and we had over a 100 coming up 4 at a time, something I have not seen before....
gurnard, mainly greys are everywhere with the odd red in between and they are upto 12oz
pollack upto 6lb are keen to take feathers at the harbour entrance
mackerel continue to be prolific though there average size is falling...there is still the odd good one in amongst (3lb 10/8/15)
