    Report on-board Just Mary

The past few weeks if not months have produced some challenging conditions for Skippers and Anglers alike. However we have managed to keep our bookings going by careful planning of tides, wind direction and choosing the right locations. As Roy Castle used to say on 'Record Breakers'.....'dedication's what you need'.....and a good deal of planning avoids pee poor performance ! So the Anderson clan from Swindon, who only visit me once a year and use my hire rods and bait enjoyed a good morning on the Bream before an afternoon of strong winds and a change of tide direction. My regulars enjoyed a trip to Dancing Ledge in 'challenging conditions' but we found plenty of Bream and other species including a big Conger that made the 'Great Escape' through the scupper. The rest of the fleet staying the other side of Peveril Ledge, I guess you just have to trust what you drive ? Two half days last weekend and again more planning, a Stag party on hire rods enjoyed Spotted Ray, Dogfish and Undulate Ray plus a big female lobster full of berries (eggs) that was photographed and returned after being tail cut. The afternoon party again had Spotted Ray and Dogfish on hire gear. Sunday and a Charter of only four landed half a dozen spotted rays and Dogs before we moved to avoid the wind over tide scenario. The move produced a nice Undulate Ray on anchor then gurnard and plaice on the drift. This coming weekend looks better.....about time too !
