Report on-board Dawn Venture
period 15-28th august 2017......
extended reporting period due to losing so many days to the wind!
the pollack fishing under the cliffs is going great guns with many fish over the 4.5lb and a few into the 6lb bracket.these fish are now a lovely bronze/copper colour having been in the kelp so long.Notable catches were by Derek and Ben who spent 2 full days floatfishing and amassed over 100 pollack.
we have also caught....coalies,doggies ,huss,spurs,herring,codling,whiting,haddock,pouting,red/grey/tub gurnard, small ling, dabs and a flounder. Matt even caught 5 gurnards on one string of feathers!
plenty of mackerel around with a good number pushing the 2lb grade, especially on the ebb tide.we also have the yearly influx of mini-mackerel,smallest being only 5" long but there are hundreds around about 8" long(see catch photos)
we have noticed an influx of small whiting and consequently an influx of the spurs and huss.this weekend past (26/27 aug) we have caught 45 spurdogs with biggest at 19.5lb(see photo) and the majority being 12-15lb with only the odd one under 10lb.the huss are starting to show again with the best being 14.4lbView Boats Page
