    Corona Virus Update

It has been confirmed that from 4th July Flamer IV will be able to operate again with reduced numbers of 5

passengers plus me (more passengers will be allowed if they are from the same household).

All bookings already held will be contacted and informed of the change and it will be their decision if they wish or their

    booking to remain.

For the rest of July there will be the restrictions on numbers.

For Individuals trips unfortunately there has to be a price per person increase -

Inshore trips will be £100 per person and Wreck trips £140 per person.

This is for July and hopefully the next set of government guidelines will see numbers able to increase on the boat.

Note: I will be updating my schedule/trips page and sending out a newsletter this week.

NOTE: please sanitize your hands before boarding the boat, during the trip and before getting off the boat.

I hope you are keeping well and keeping safe through these difficult times.

Lots of different rule changes coming in July with the announcements from the Prime minister.

I am just awaiting further updates from the Council, Defra etc as to what charter boats will be able to do and what

rules and guidelines we have to follow.

NOTE: be prepared that numbers may be restricted on the boat, prices may be different, guidelines and risk

assessments will have to be put in place.

When I know I will send out an announcement.

I hope you are keeping well and keeping safe through these difficult times. Lots of different rule changes this

week, which as you will read are very confusing and frustrating for Charter Skippers.

Having said that I still think it is very risky to go back fishing and taking out charters while there are still hundreds

of people dying from the coronavirus most days. Lets be patient, Lets be safe. I will re access the situation in early July.

Guidelines were issued by the Angling Trust and Proffessional Boatmans Association on June 4th - take a look at the

link Covid - 19 Latest Guidelines on my main page on www.deepsea.co.uk

On June 9th Weymouth harbour issued -

The following amendment to the Return to Boating Notice to Mariners has been approved by the Harbours

Committee and senior Council officers with immediate effect:

Angling and Dive Charter Boats are permitted to operate (the guide lines similar to the Angling Trust/P.B.A. issued

    on June 4th 2020).

On Thursday 11th June we received official guidance from Central Government which contradicts our NTMs. This

states that ‘Operators should not allow skippered day boat hire or skippered day charter boat hire.’

In light of this introduction of new guidance we have updated the Notice to Mariners. Furthermore, it is likely that

there will be implications around insurance cover for charter boat operators if operating outside of the government

    guidance.

    Awaiting further updates next week.

    Hi, all

I hope you are keeping well and keeping safe through these difficult times.

I recently took Flamer IV out for a much needed run as she has been tied up on the mooring since March. I took along a friend and we did some fishing for a while and caught Rays, Dogfish and Mackerel.

The two of us on board both wore face masks and social distanced, this is difficult though especially when any help is required to land a fish and doing other things around the boat.

It was quite an interesting sight in Weymouth Bay with seven cruise ships anchored up there.

Note: I have had a few guys contacting me about charter trips going ahead in different parts of the country. Note: Ports and harbours around the country can have different rules and regulations in force.

Guidelines - looking at the latest Guidelines issued by the P.B.A. and Angling Trust, when you analise them it does not make for an enjoyable day out and I think still a big health risk and for me to carry out my normal duties I would be the one at most at risk.

With only restricted numbers on the boat, then prices for trips for individuals would have to be increased and tailored to suit in order to make trips viable for me to do.

Whole Boat Charter prices would not see any price increase, but the numbers on board would be restricted.

I realize how frustrating it is for you all not to be able to come fishing on Flamer IV but we just have to be patient and wait until it is safe for all of us. I will re - access the situation again in early July.

A Big Thank you to all of you who have taken up the options and purchased Gift vouchers or added to your deposits or made pre - payment for future trips.

    Thanks for your continued support.

For those of you who have had trips cancelled because of the Coronavirus Pandemic and can not or do not want to re arrange for 2020 then please re book for 2021.Your deposits will be carried on to the future date(s) booked.

My Bookings diary/schedules on all my web sites are done through until the end of October 2021. The proposed itinerary's are not set in stone and can be changed subject to the tides.

    Stay Safe, All The Best,

    Colin Penny

P is for Peter Minns and Pre - Payment.
Flamer IV regular Peter Minns(pictured) phoned me to ask how I was and mentioned that he was concerned on how I was coping financially with not being able to to do any trips.
I explained to him that at present no financial help was coming from the government,so it is difficult times..
He said he would like to help by sending me some money as Pre - Payment for trips for when this virus situation is over which would in turn help with my cash flow.
I readily agreed and thought what a brilliant idea.
So if any one else would like to do this then please do.
