"GOOD DAY FOR TREVOR" - Trevor Madden age 56 from Brokenhurst landed his first ever Brill which weighed in at 10Ib and is a superb specimen for the area. Trevor was using 12Ib class tackle with a flowing trace and a Sakuma 4/0 hook baited with a fillet off a Launce that he had caught earlier.Trevor is pictured with his 10Ib Brill.Trevor also caught several Plaice during the same trip with the best one weighing 5Ib.

The annual five day WIBAC angling competition produced some superb fish with Richard Ferre landing the best ray in the competition.Richard is pictured with his 16Ib 8oz Undulate Ray. Many other fine specimens were caught and released on Flamer IV during the competition ie Kevin Lewis 14Ib 8oz Undulate Ray and 14Ib Bull Huss, Kevin Clark 14Ib Undulate Ray,Peter Bailey 5Ib Plaice to name just a few.

Phil Harvey age 56 from Southampton landed his Personal Best Plaice weighing 6Ib 6oz while drift fishing aboard Flamer IV.Phil was using a Shakespeare 8Ib class rod with a one hook trace with lots of coloured attractor beads on and a size 2/0 Sakuma hook. The successful bait was ragworm,prawn and a strip of Ammo squid. Phil is pictured with his PB Plaice.
On the same Trip - "Brian is Back" - On Brian Martins previous trip on Flamer IV he had a nightmare,but this time he was back to his best catching a flatty Grand Slam with Plaice,Brill and Turbot. -

September - Jan Elfring arranged a birthday trip for Stuart Crofts 50th along with a few friends.A days Reef fishing produced Tope,Congers,Undulate Rays and the usual Dogfish,all which were released alive.The group really enjoyed their day out on Flamer IV.The successful bait on the day for all the fish was mackerel and Ammo squid cocktail mounted on pennel rigs.Pictured is Derek James with the biggest of the the three Undulate Rays he Caught a fine 15 Pounder.

The Flamer IV Big Plaice competition produced six Plaice of 6Ib and over. With the winning fish weighing 6Ib 8oz caught by Steve Bennett age 56 from Cornwall(pictured).Lots of Personal bests were set and broken during the trip.Tim Neal 6Ib 2oz,Gary Bowdenham 4Ib 4oz,Dan Spearman 6Ib 1oz,Ian Laird, 5Ib 14oz and Steve Bennett 6Ib 8oz all broke their Personal bests twice on the trip.Ashley Storton landed a 6Ib 2oz Plaice which was the fourth time this year he had broken his Personal Best on Flamer IV.The successful baits were combinations of ragworm,prawn,lugworm and squid strips.

August 2013 - Brian Martin alias Barry and friends from Hampshire enjoyed a days flatty fishing with some good specimen size Plaice caught along with some Turbot and Brill.Don Gray recorded a grand slam catching Brill,Turbot and Plaice. Mark Butland landed his Personal Best Plaice weighing 6Ib 4oz..The successful baits for the Plaice were ragworm tipped with squid strip or prawn.Poor old Brian had one of those days,breaking a rod and only catching one small Plaice,"never mind Brian Better luck next time".

A day at anchor on marks to the east of Weymouth produced several species including Undulate Rays,Conger,Black Bream,Red Gurnard,Scad,Mackerel,Dogfish and Pouting. Mel Jones landed the best BlacK Bream of the trip weighing in at 3Ib 4oz.Three anglers all caught their first ever Undulate Rays. The weights were 10Ib - Tim Howe,11Ib - Richard Reed,11Ib 4oz - Dave Girt. All three rays were released alive.

Ian Napier and friends enjoyed a flatty trip the day after Ian's 49th Birthday.Ian himself got a flatty grand slam catching a Turbot,Brill and Plaice.Ian's biggest Plaice weighed 5Ib.Steve Barwood age 48 landed his first ever Plaice which weighed 5Ib 2oz"not bad for your first ever Plaice". The successful baits were ragworm and strips of squid.Ian is pictured with his five pounder.

FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS AUGUST 2013 - Pictured is Darren Latimer age 27 from Sussex, with the Undulate Ray weighing 13Ib 8oz he landed while fishing at anchor on a bank. Darren was using his dads new Atrico X Power rod.Darren was using a flowing trace and 6/0 hook baited with a Mackerel flapper.The Ray was realeased alive.Darren also caught a 10Ib Bull Huss.During the same trip lots of Tope were caught keeping the action on the go. Lately the Reef/Bank Action has produced many good Rays and Tope along with Bull Huss,Congers and Bream. SO DON'T MISS OUT.

FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS August 2013 Reef/Bank Trip - Pictured is Trevor Lockyer age 64 from Dorset with the 20Ib 8oz Blonde Ray he caught. The Ray took a mackerel flapper cocktail bait presented on 6/0 hook. The female ray was released alive Trevor also caught a smaller Blonde Ray weighing 10Ib which was also released alive.
On the Same trip Jenny Foley age 62 caught her first and now Personal Best Spotted Ray weighing 5Ib.Jenny also caught an 8Ib Thornback Ray.Some Tope were also caught but a few were also lost to fight another day.
