    FEBRUARY 2012 - A wrecking trip produced pollack up to 14Ib and the first ling of the year.All the fish came on lures with red,white and rubarb and custard sidewinders doing best .Rick hawkins was the most successful angler on the day catching several pollack with his best weighing 14Ib.Ricks red sidewinder lure accounted for most of the pollack until he lost it in the wreck.Rick is Pictured with his 14 pounder.

    JANUARY 2012 - The winter wrecking for pollack got off to a good start with some nice fish being caught on mainly sidwinders and orange red gills on flying collar and Portland rigs.Tim Norman was the star of the first wrecking trip of the year breaking his personal best twice with pollack weighing 15Ib 8oz and 19Ib 5oz.Tim was using 15Ib class tackle with a Portland Rig and a red sidewinder lure. Tim is pictured with his 19 pounder.


    JANUARY FLAMER FISH OF THE MONTH was awarded to Tim Norman with his 19Ib 5oz pollack.

    4 different species have been caught on Flamer IV so far in 2012.

    DECEMBER 2011 - Mark Towner age 59 from Winchester enjoyed his first trip aboard Flamer IV.Mark caught plenty of whiting on a three hook hoki rig baited with strips of Ammo mackerel and squid.On three occassions a conger grabbed his whiting baits and broke one of the hooks off.Mark rigged up with a stronger trace baited with whole calamari squid and caught the conger an eel of 20Ib which was released.Mark also caught the usual dogs and pouts but his best fish of the day was a 14Ib 8oz spurdog.The big spur was weighed,photographed and returned alive.Mark is pictured with his spurdog.

    Mark sent me an email which read "Thanks Colin,I really enjoyed my 1st trip in the area,and I got a good taste of the fishing Quality.I look forward to booking with you again in the spring".

    DECEMBER 2011 - The Flamer Friday Fishers Species Leagues last match and presentation took place.The fishing produced 14 species which is very good for a trip in December it included whiting,garfish,mackerel,bull huss,conger etc and even some black bream.
    The 2011 final league results - Champion - Richard Ferre 67 points,Runner Up - Peter Collings 66 points,Most Species = 1st Steve Clements and Richard Ferre with 29 each,
    Best Specimen - Peter Collings 125%,Most Improved Angler - Mick Nunn,
    Pairs = 1st Andy Selby and Robin Amor and Peter Collings and Richard Ferre both with 30 species each,Weakest Link - Andy Selby.Pictured are the lads enjoying themselves at the presentation.
    End of an era - the species league will not run in 2012 but has been replaced with a Flamer IV Flatty League and numerous and various competitions through out the year.

    DECEMBER 2011 - A reef trip produced plenty of whiting up to 3Ib 8oz also several congers and spurdogs.Jamie Watts also landed his first ever Undulate Ray which weighed in at 14Ib 4oz.Jamie from Southampton was using 20Ib class tackle with a pennel rig baited with Ammo squid and Mackerel.The ray was weighed,photographed and returned alive.Jamie is pictured with his Undulate Ray.There are lots of whiting around at present.SO DON'T MISS OUT

    NOVEMBER Report - The inshore reef and bank trips produced plenty of black bream,brill,turbot,rays,bass,cod,whiting,gurnards and many more different species.Wreck trips saw pollack and bass caught on a variety of lures.Bass and cod were caught on drifting trips in the Portland race area.55 different species have been caught on Flamer IV in 2011.Flamer Fish of the month for November was awarded to John Bickford for his 7Ib 8oz Bass(pictured).

    NOVEMBER 2011 - A reef trip produced plenty of species including Tub Gurnard,Starry Smooth hound,Scad,Mackerel,Pollack,dog fish etc plus lots of Black Bream with plenty in the 2 to 3Ib range.Peter Welfare caught a 3Ib Tub Gurnard.Les Whiteman's best bream of the day weighed 3Ib.The star of the trip was Mark Turner who landed loads of Black Bream up to 3Ib 2oz.Mark was using 8Ib class tackle with a fixed spool reel and a two up,one down Wessex rig baited with small strips of Ammo squid.Mark is pictured with his 3Ib 2oz Black Bream.

    NOVEMBER 2011 - WRECKING TRIP - the first three wrecks of the day produced a few pollack during the easing tide and over the slack water period.Then a move to a big wreck as the tide was running produced a hectic two and half hour spell were the action was fast and furious with bass and pollack.The anglers were using 15Ib class tackle with flying collar or Portland Rigs and a variety of lures.On the day a salmon coloured shad was very successful but to be fair when the fish were in their feeding frenzy all manner of lures were used and proved irresistable to the bass and pollack.Pictured is John Bickford from Bristol with his 7Ib 8oz Bass.

    NOVEMBER 2011 - At last managed to get out on one of my drifting trips for bass and cod with all the previous ones being cancelled due to bad weather.Plenty of bass up to 7Ib were caught along with 5 cod on a variety of lures.How ever rhubarb and custard sindewinders and blue and white red gills were the most successful.On the cod front 74 year old Mike Carter caught two with David Bruce catching three.Pictured is Derek Inwood with the biggest bass of the trip weighing 7Ib.
