    JUNE 2011 - The Leighton Buzzard Tanglers SAC joined Flamer IV for their annual angling break.During their few days fishing they encountered weather that would have been ok for all four seasons of the year but they still had a good time and enjoyed their angling break as always.They caught several different species which included turbot,cod,pollack,ling,rays,smooth hounds,conger and many more.Dave Kingwell who's nick name is "STUD" landed six turbot during two sessions on the Shambles Bank.He also won a trophy for the competition they did with 226 points.Tim Barnard who's nick nasme is "Honey" was runner up in the competition with 162 points.Tim landed some good fish including a 14Ib pollack and a 10Ib turbot(pictured).Other members Geordie,Mick and Dodgey Dave all had some good fish with Dodgey Dave catching his first ever turbot and they all lived up to their club mame with Many,Many tangles which most of the time seemed to include Dodgey Dave and/or Geordie.

    JUNE 2011 - TONBRIDGE TANGLERS SAC annual three day angling break aboard Flamer IV.The Tanglers enjoyed their three days fishing catching a variety of different species in fact 19 in total which included cod,pollack,ling,black bream,brill,bull huss,conger etc.They also caught some good fish ie Pollack 16Ib for Stuart,12Ib 8oz Undulate Ray for Paul and John Haylett landed a 14Ib Ling,12Ib Bull Huss and a 5Ib 2oz Brill.A friendly but some what a bit competitive competition was done over the three days.Results - Winner - John Haylett,Runner Up - Stuart Summerson,Third Place - Kim,Most Species - John Haylett,Best Fish Award - Paul with his 12Ib 8oz Undulate Ray. The Tanglers are pictured with their trophies and colourful shirts.

    MAY - FLAMER IV Report - During the whole month some excellent fish were caught especialy Turbot with lots of double figure ones being landed.Brill and Plaice also featured on the flatfish front.The wrecking produced plenty of cod and pollack and occassional bass and ling.The reefs saw bullhuss,rays,congers,bream etc landed.40 different species have been landed on Flamer so far this year.Flamer Fish of the Month winner for May was awarded to Richard Paul with his 5Ib 12oz Plaice.Richard is pictured with his big plaice.

    MAY 2011 - Some of my popular Angling Breaks have taken place during May with groups doing a few days fishing aboard Flamer IV.The latest club to take advantage of such a trip have been Swansea Breakaways Sea Angling Club.Their trip was based on flatty fishing but also did a session at anchor on a reef and a few drifts on an inshore wreck.Frank Wilson stole the show with the flatty's by catching a bril,turbot and a plaice.The other members also chipped in with a few flatty's of their own.The anchor session on a reef produced some good size bull huss with the biggest of 12Ib being caught by Steve Roper who is pictured with his bully catch.

    MAY 2011 - The flatty fishing has just been brill.Excellent catches of Turbot have been made with plenty of double figure fish being caught on mackerel and launce fillet baits.Robin Amor deserves a mention as he was getting frustrated at not catching a Turbot and seeing the other anglers on board Flamer IV catching a few that he got an Ammo mackerel cut off the fillets and baited up with the head and frame, with in two minutes had hooked his personal best turbot weighing 17Ib.Funny old game this fishing.Robin is pictured with his PB Turbot.The Brill have now started to put in an appearance.The plaice fishing has been good with plenty being caught with the most recent best one weighing in at 5Ib 12oz caught by Richard Paul.
    The flatty fishing will continue right in to the late Autumn and early winter months,So Don't Miss Out.

    APRIL 2011 - FLAMER IV REPORT - "WHAT A MONTH" as excellent fish were caught throughout the month although the majority of April's trips were spent concentrating on Plaice and Turbot.Paul Milkins landed the biggest plaice weighing 6Ib 2oz closely followed by Denise Young with a 5Ib 12oz plaice.Top of the impressive Turbot catches was Trevor Lockyer with 24Ib 8oz monster then Russell Salmon with his 23 pounder.Cod started to feature inshore and on the offshore wrecks.Peter Gordon landed a 20 pounder on the mussell beds and David Bruce caught a 23Ib Cod while drifting a wreck with mackerel fillet bait.Pollack and Ling were caught on the wrecks.The inshore reef/bank fishing at anchor produced some good action with good size spurdogs,smooth hounds and rays.27 different species have been caught on Flamer IV so far in 2011.
    With so many good fish caught it was a hard job choosing the Fish of the Month award.However Flamer IV Fish of the Month was awarded to Russell Salmon for his 23Ib Turbot(pictured).You may ask why Trevor Lockyer did not win it with his 24Ib 8oz Turbot,well Trevor won January Fish of the Month and had already qualified for the 2011 winners competition.

    APRIL 2011 - Mark Butland and his three friends travelled from Portsmouth for their annual flatty trip aboard Flamer IV.They certainly seem to have the nack of catching flatty's and this years trip was no exception.In the first two drifts Mark landed a personal best turbot weighing 14Ib 4oz followed by a seven pounder.Brian Martin chipped in with a nine pounder.Marks crew accounted for five of the days turbot catch.During the day more turbot were caught by the other anglers on the trip along with some plaice.Mark is pictured with his personal best turbot.

    FLAMER IV ANGLING BREAK - APRIL 2011 - Chris Akroyd and crew joined Flamer IV for a three day angling break with flatfish in mind and they were not dissapointed.During the three days they caught several plaice,turbot and one brill.Mark Potts caught the only brill on the trip a nice fish of 4Ib.Mark Cookney landed the biggest turbot which weighed 16Ib and is a personal best for Eric.Eric is pictured with his big turbot.Eric's brother David made it a brother turbot double when he caught an 8Ib 8oz turbot.Organiser Chris Akroyd also joined in the turbot fun catching an 8 pounder on day two.A surprise catch while plaice fishing was a 20Ib cad caught by Peter Gordon.Peter had an almighty struggle trying to land the big cod on just 12Ib class tackle.The crew also enjoyed sessions fishing for mackerel,sandeels,herrings and pollack along with a few hours anchored on a reef catching conger and the usual dogfish.The lads enjoyed their Angling Break and have vowed to rteturn.

    APRIL 2011 - Annual Plaice Competition between Flamer IV and Top Cat took place on a sunny but cold April day and was competitive as always but also good natured.The Flamer IV team captained by Steve Clements won the match with 30 plaice over the Top Cat team who caught 22 plaice.The top individual angler with 7 plaice was Richard Christian of the Flamer IV team and he is pictured with one of his plaice which weighed in at 3Ib 14oz.Steve Clements caught the biggest plaice on Flamer IV and it weighed 4Ib 2oz and shared the biggest plaice prize with one of the Top Cat team who also caught a plaice of 4Ib 2oz.Flamer IV team member Neil Cottingham was not far behind in the biggest plaice stakes with one weighing 4Ib 1oz.Next Years annual plaice competition Flamer IV v Top Cat date will be announced soon.

    APRIL 2011 - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - Paul the power Milkins from Sutton,Surrey was on a mission to catch a plaice of 4Ib or over.Well he certainly achieved that when he reeled in a plaice weighing 6Ib 2oz which of course is a personal best for Paul.Paul was using 10Ib class tackle with a two hook flatty trace with green and black attractor beads on.The successful bait was Ammo black lug and squid strip.Paul is pictured with his big plaice.Paul's plaice was just one of a good catch of flatty's caught on Flamer IV that day.
