    FLAMER ANNUAL 1 DAY SPECIES COMPETITION - The weather was not very good but the crew stuck at it catching lots of fish and different species.The Shambles bank was fished first seeing Mackerel,sandeels and a plaice caught.The weather deteriated so a move to the shelter of Portland produced various wrasse,pollack,whiting,etc.A move into Portland Harbour saw the action realy hot up with countless black bream,scad,wrasse,goby's,blenny's a bass and a red band fish.Wayne Frapple caught a butterfly blenny which was just two drams off the British record.A short session at anchor produced a few dogfish.

    Results - Winner - Peter Collings 288 points,Runner Up - Wayne Frapple 278 points,Most Species - Andy Collings with 12,Weakest Link - Donald Fitzgerald 40 points.

    The £5 entry fees were donated to the R.N.L.I.

    2010 FLAMER FIVE DAY FESTIVAL - the third five day Flamer Fesival took place in the middle of August with the majority of the weather not very summer like but the anglers stuck at it and caught an amazing 35 different species over the five days on reef/bank and inshore wrecks and to name a few of the different species caught plaice,turbot,dabs,blonde and thornback rays ,conger,bull huss,black bream,scad,
    various wrasse,gurnards,gogy's,blenny's,pollack,mackerel,garfish,Red band fish etc.
    Results - 2010 Flamer Festival Champion - Andy Collings with 1061 points,Runner Up - Peter Collings 1036 points,Weakest Link - David Barton 534 points,Most Species with 25 - Andy Collings,Biggest Fish - Dodgey David Barton 21Ib Blonde Ray,Pairs Winners with 28 species - Andy Collings and Wayne Frapple,Runners Up - Peter Collings and Dave Thompson.2010 Flamer Festival Champion Andy Collings is pictured,

    RAYS R'US - Graham Latimer age 51 from Eastbourne with his son Darren and four friends joined Flamer III for two days Ray fishing and were not dissapointed.Over the two days numerous blonde rays were caught along with one spotted ray.Four bonus turbot were also landed during the trip.The biggest blonde ray of the trip was a twenty pounder caught by Nick Rye.Darren Latimer caught his first ever turbot.But Graham landed the best turbot which weighed in at 14Ib.Graham is pictured with his big turbot.The successful bait for all the fish was whole clamari squid and mackerel fillet presented on pennel rigs.The lads enjoyed themselves and have re booked for two days in August 2011.

    JULY Report for FLAMER III - the reefs produced plenty of black bream,bull huss,congers,rays etc.The mussel beds good for plaice and black bream.The Shambles Bank was consistent for turbot,brill and occassional plaice.A few bass by the east and west Shambles Buoys area.The offshore wrecks slowed up but still produced pollack,ling and the odd cod.42 different species caught on Flamer III so far this year.Flamer Fish of the Month for July was awarded to Simon Darligton for his 9Ib Brill.Simon is pictured with his brill catch.

    FLAMER III JUNE REPORT - the weather was good and more like summer.The wrecking was excellent for cod,ling,Pollack and a few bass.The cod were not numerous like June 2008 and 2009 but they were certainly bigger.The turbot fishing was good on the Shambles Bank.The plaice fishing was better towards the middle of the month.The reefs produced Tope,congers,smooth hounds,rays,gurnards etc.38 different species have been caught on Flamer III so far in 2011.Flamer Fish of the Month for June was awarded to Jenny Foley with her 20Ib cod.Jenny is pictured with her big cod catch.

    FIVE DAY WEST COUNTRY TRIP - the weather was fantastic all week.Day 1 was spent wrecking on the way to Dartmouth.Drifting produced cod and pollack and a session at anchor saw congers and monster pout caught.Days 2,3,and 4 were spent fishing the Skeries Bank and surrounding areas were plenty of species were caught including plaice,pollack,gurnards,whiting,mackerel,dog fish,bull huss etc.Day 5 was spent drifting wrecks on the journey back to Weymouth and cod,pollack and bass were landed.
    A compettiton was done over the 5 days.Results,Winner - Paul Milkins,Runner Up - Jim Stone,Most Species - Paul Milkins,Best Flatfish - Tony Quinn,Weakest Link - Fiona Gunn.
    The trip was named "SKINS ON TOUR" with the song "We are Skins on tour,you should see our number 4" being sung on many occassions. The group were all given T shirts with Dodgey Dave getting the number 4 shirt.
    The trip was very enjoyable and hospitality in The Seale Arms were the group stayed was excellent as always.

    Gypsy Mariners SAC from Devon joined Flamer III for a five day angling break.This was the third year in a row the club has come to Weymouth aboard Flamer III for an angling break.The first four days saw a fresh north easterly wind restrict were we could go fishing but the group were not detered and caught several species including plaice,dabs,gurnards,dog fish,wrasse,pollack,pout etc.The biggest plaice was aught by Mark Cooper and weighed 3Ib 14oz.Mark is pictured with his catch.On day five the wind dropped and a wrecking trip was done and cod,pollack and bass were caught.Bruce Dellow landing the biggest cod weighing 13Ib 8oz.Over the five days a friendly but competative competition was done.Results,Winner Mark,Runner Up - Paul,Most Species - Mark,Best Specimen - Mark,Weakest Link - Bruce.

    THE ROYAL HOTEL TOTTINGTON from Bury did their second weekend trip of the year aboard Flamer III and did two days wreck fishing catching some excellent cod and numerous pollack along with some pain in the ass pouts.Alan Bradshaw the boat booking secretary was pleased with a cod weighing 14Ib 8oz he landed and commented it was the best cod he had caught for a few years.He was out done though by club member Paul Snowden who landed an 18Ib 8oz cod (Paul is Pictured with his big cod).The cod were caught on a variety of lures such as sidewinders,Shads etc with the pollack being caught on mainly firetail jelly worms. During the two days a lot of gear was lost on the wrecks and a common cry was "I've lost the fu**ing lot" which I think will now be the new club motto.The lads enjoyed their weekend and are looking forward to their next weekend trip aboard Flamer III in September and have already booked their dates for 2011.

    TONBRIDGE TANGLERS SAC did their annual three day angling break aboard Flamer III and had a good time not just with the fishing but the banter on the boat was excellent and all added to the fun and relaxed atmosphere.Their club moto is " The Tonbridge Tanglers do it with both hands on their rod",says it all realy.The three days involved two days wrecking and one inshore day with a variety of fish being caught including cod,ling,pollack,turbot,conger,pout,mackerel etc.Paul landed his first ever turbot and Stuart landed his peresonal best cod weighing 13Ib 8oz.A competition was done over the three days and the results were - Champion and Most species - Kim,Runner Up - Paul,Third place and best fish - Stuart,Weakest Link - Norbert.The lads have been doing angling breaks on Flamer III for six years now and are looking forward to re booking for 2011.Pictured are the happy Tanglers with some of their catch.

    BRISTOL BOYS ANNUAL TRIP - Colin Leadbeater and mates had their annual trip on June 6th and caught a reasonable catch of mainly pollack, cod and ling.Despite the choppy conditions lots of tangles and a couple being sea sick the group faired quite well.By far the best lure of the day was a orange shad which looked more like a gold fish.The best Ling of the day weighed 17Ib 8oz and was caught by Marc Excell.Shaun Porter landed the best pollack weighin 16Ib and is pictured with his catch.The lads have already re booked for 2011.
