Did somebody ring the bell? We certainly had plenty of DingaLingLing today!!
Another day spent on the inshore wrecks. The first wreck we fished on the Ebb and it provided a good picking of mainly Codling in the 2-4lb bracket. A move to another wreck for slack water produced a good mix of Codling and Ling. They fell 50/50 for Shads v Squid. The Ling all falling for whole squid or baited Hokkai’s.
Once the tide had started to flood, we move to a final wreck for the day and picked off 2-3 Ling on every drift. A few in the 5lb bracket and the biggest fish of the day falling to Kev Martin on almost the last drift at around 7lb. Everyone had a good few fish to take home and we’re looking forward to the lads returning in a few weeks time. -

If Carlsberg did weather.....
What a glorious day out today. T-Shirt weather in Whitby for the lads aboard Sea Urchin. After yesterday’s results, we stayed on the inshore wrecks again. The first wreck of the morning threw quality, Codling and a handful of Ling out, with everyone getting off the mark. The water clarity has continued to improve and as predicted, a number of fish fell to shads, but big baits still dominated.
Capture of the day must go to Jeff Turner, for his first Wolf Fish, which was a good sized fish and only our second one of the year. A stop off at a wreck on the way home, provide us with a flurry of fish to end what was a thoroughly enjoyable day out. Let’s hope things continue in the same vein and the weather holds. -

The sun was shining and the rods were bending....a lovely day out on the wrecks today.
There was no need to travel too far. We fished a couple of inshore wrecks which were pretty obliging all day. A nice stamp of Codling came aboard consistently along with a handful of Ling on slack water.
It turned into a bit of a species hunt as we landed Codling, Ling, Coalie’s, Pollack, Whiting, Dabs, Pouting and Gurnard and Mackerel and everyone took a few home for tea which was great.
As standard, Squid did the damage, mainly fished on bait traces with a muppet. A squid and fresh mackerel cocktail also proved effective. The water is clearing out a little now, so the Shads should come into play again soon. -

Today was a good day....
This morning, Sea Urchin was inspected and has now being certified to operate as a Category 2 vessel, which means we can now operate up to 60 miles from a safe haven. Anyone who is interested in having a longer trip with a group of friends, can drop us a line to discuss options.
This afternoon I took out three friends for a few hours fishing and after the poor recent form; things have improved significantly today. We drifted only one wreck and caught a decent stamp of Codling mainly in the 4-6lb bracket and half a dozen Ling up to 7lb.
Squid and Squid with Cart or Bluey’s were the most successful baits. Let’s hope today was a sign of much better things to come. -

It ain't all Champagne and Skittles......
I'm not one for pulling a bluff; and it's fair to say that the last two days fishing have been very hard. After the strong winds, the water has been stirred up again and is holding a lot of colour. Combined with big tides and a bit of swell; we've certainly had our work cut out.
Fishing has been best an hour either side of slack water and we've picked off a few fish; with an 8lb 8oz Ling being pick of the fish for Don "Wang" from Kings Lynn. There are signs of the Mackerel making an appearance, but these fish were taken from above a wreck at 18 miles.
Whether you're catching or not, I will do everything I can to tip the balance in your favour. All I want, is happy anglers who get a few fish to take home. Lets hope the water clears out in the next day or so.

First day back out after some unsettled weather. Once the wind had backed off, we picked away for a good few hours.
The water wasn’t crystal clear, but it was better than anticipated. Bait fishing dominated the captures, and Jamie Skov did some solid angling; taking a number of good quality Codling. A few Ling made an appearance, with Martin Cooper taking the biggest around the 7lb mark.
If you’re at a loose end this bank holiday, there’s a few spaces available on Saturday, Sunday and Monday if you fancy enjoying the weather and catching a few.

“Cod” only knows how many fish we had today!!
With the water inside clearing out nicely, we had a run to some inshore wrecks again. The lads on board all knew the drills and got stuck straight in at the first wreck. Most drifts, for the first couple of hours, saw four or five quality Codling come over the rails, and within the first half an hour, everyone had at least a couple to take home.
Tony Barret was top rod on the day, with his first four fish being around the 5lb mark (just like busses...one after another). He ended the day with a dozen good keepers. His Rubber Squid Hokkai’s baited with squid doing the damage. Nabeel Ismail also took our first Wolf Fish of the year.....and only its mother could love it!!
Squid still dominated the captures, but we had a flurry of activity on the Shads just after slack water. Rhubarb and Custard proving successful. Thanks for a great day out boys.....the samosas were legendary!! Hopefully see you all again soon. -

With weather conditions being far from ideal, we had a pretty successful day on Sea Urchin. A swift start saw everyone off the mark on the first inshore wreck we visited.
The average size of the Codling was around 3-4lb with a couple of 5’s and a 6 pounder thrown in for good measure.
After a quiet hour while the tide and wind were really pushing us through, we made a move to a small inshore wreck, ready for when things calmed down.
This turned out to be a great move as five rods out of six took fish on the first drift at the new wreck. We ran the wreck for an hour before coming home and the boys picked plenty of quality Codling off to take home. Enjoyable day, in great company. -

After what can only be described as a week of “pants” weather, we had a run out today with a group of great lads, who are regulars on Sea Urchin.
Ian Kellock was top rod for the day, with a double figure haul of lovely Codling up to 5lb. Dave Guest chipped in with half a dozen Codling of a similar stamp and “Grumpy Martin” (he’s only happy when he’s grumpy!!) had a very similar result with Codling around the 5lb mark.
The biggest fish of the day fell to Andy the Skipper; when being pestered by Pouting, he left one on the hook and a double figure Ling snaffled it up.
All in all, a very enjoyable day out, with a great bunch of lads. Squid accounted for all the Codling, on either a muppet baited rig, or Hokkai’s -

It's been a tricky couple of weeks in the Spring festival at Whitby, with not much in the way of big fish making an appearance. That said, we've had some fairly consistent action on Sea Urchin with our customers taking three daily prizes and plenty for the table.
It is now back to business as usual, so if you fancy a run out at Whitby, rest assured, Sea urchin will provide it.
Hope to see you on-board soon.
