Great news, we've just had the email confirmation that we have successfully secured a permit for recreational bluefin tuna again this year. We have a few bookings already pencilled in to confirm but still have dates and spaces available. If you want to join us this year please send me a message to let me know you are interested and if you would like individual spaces or to book the boat. we are planning to head down there from 26/08-03/10 currently though we might add more dates if these fill fast enough.
We are lucky enough to be able to offer several options to catch them with the fighting chair and 4 outfits for that, stand up gear or heavy spinning gear if we believe you are capable enough.
It's best to contact me on 07956411528
I must say I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully you are too.

I thought I'd better post some pictures from our general trips rather than keep posting just bass.
Of course we been catching plenty of other stuff too from pouting and dogfish through to tope and stingrays mixed in with the bass, hounds and thornback rays on our general trips.
The weather has been fantastic too so smiles all round. This hot weather has seen a few more stingrays showing too. I really do enjoy fishing when we don't know what might come up next. It's one of the great attractions of sea angling to me.
It's also nice to have a run of general trips in between as they are generally more relaxed and less taxing than the long days offshore chasing bass and tope day after day (not that I want it any other way).
I have a couple of spaces on our last tope trips of the year this week as well as spaces offshore bass fishing.
    Next spaces are
    01/07- boat available for groups
    02/07- tope fishing 1 space @ £100pp

The bass continue to hit the deck of the Galloper. They must be easy to catch coz even this numpty in the yellow wellies can manage to get them in between making tea and talking rubbish.
On our general trips there's been loads of hounds around and some decent tish too. There's still a bit of variety in the form of dogfish, pouting, whiting, tope, stingrays and more to be caught on our general trips and even more variety offshore.
With the fishing and weather playing ball we are very busy but have some availability for individuals and groups in the coming weeks.

We've been making the most of the weather this week with quality bass hitting the deck every day. It has been dreamy out here all week with perfect weather and cracking fishing to be had. We've had a lovely variety of fish and fishing methods over a huge area. The bass have featured heavily though and we've caught them on lures, live baits and dead baits. On the drift and at anchor. It's really shaping up to be a bumper bass year. We will be offering offshore bass trips from now until December with spaces for groups and individuals.
I also have spaces for general fishing too of course.

We had a lovely trip of mixed fishing the other day. The smooth-hounds kept us busy throughout the day with a few to low doubles. There were some whiting and dogfish too, one or two small tope and a run of sizeable bass to end the day. We finished the day with 50+ hounds and kept 4 of the bass for the table. Sorry for the lack of pictures but I was a busy boy so thankfully Blake sent me these.
I have spaces this Wednesday for tope and bass then my next availability is the following week.

We had a great day chasing bass with lures last week. It certainly didn't disappoint with stacks of fish there taking most things we could chuck at them. They were a nice stamp with lots of keepers and great fun on light tackle. For some time it was a bit hectic with basically a fish every cast. As they tailed off we had some on bait too before changing tack and spending a few hours bait fishing at anchor elsewhere as we were bassed out!
We will be offering more and more bass trips over the coming months and right through into December.
I have spaces for full boat bookings and individuals so please contact me to join us.
There's plenty of space on other types of trip too.

It's been a blustery week aboard Galloper with sunshine and showers but thankfully there's been loads of fish to put smiles on faces.
Hounds have made up the majority of our catches and they have been great sport fish mainly 7-10lb with a few doubles thrown in.
Most trips producing 50-60 or more and causing carnage as a pack comes through.
Aside from the hounds we're catching loads of other stuff, dogfish, whiting, bass, dabs, small tope and more to keep the rods nodding.
Alice enjoyed catching her first smooth-hounds and must have had 20 odd throughout her trip though I'm sure Barney's tuition helped.
There's plenty of fish around at the moment and should be for some time yet. If you want to join us please contact me

We've been catching some lovely bass in between the hounds and rays ect lately. Both bait and lures are working depending on the conditions. We are mixing in some lure fishing for now but will be doing far more from next month onwards as we concentrate on our offshore bass fishing.
For now the general trips are producing plenty with numbers varying day to day.
The hounds have stepped up a gear over the last couple of weeks and I am looking forward to getting amongst them again as soon as possible.
We are fortunate enough to have lots of sheltered marks for these fish and looking at the current forecast we will be taking advantage of them this weekend!
I have a space remaining this Saturday and the boat available Sunday for groups and individuals.

2 Jun 2025 by Scott Belbin

I thought it was probably about time to put out my annual spurdog report. As many of my regulars know by now, I like to keep some of this stuff under my hat for various reasons.
In reality at times it would be better to put these up as we're catching them but It's not going to happen so if you want to join us you'll have to get booked in and take your chance with the rest of them next year.
Our season started better than last year but after that it was hard to get enough trips in to have a good look around offshore and locate these fish. There's no other boat in the area willing to put in the time, effort and miles that we do so it can be hard to locate them at times. Eventually the mother load of fish turned up (along with everything else). When there's that many fish offshore then a certain amount will overspill to the inshore grounds too occasionally. We had some mixed in inshore as well which is always nice to see.
I noticed lots of other boats happened upon a few too. One or two seemed to dine out on a hand full of fish lucked out over one or two days which was cute.
We had a several hard days and lots of successful days on spurs over the course of 6 months. Dad always said it's harder when targeting one specific species on a trip as you might have a good trip for other stuff and miss the target species which still feels disappointing. However it does feel great when we do find them by design and put the lads on some special fishing.
Our best day was truly remarkable. The weather was perfect and the fishing was chaotic to say the least. The lads were on multiple hook ups throughout most of the day as packs of spurs and hounds came through. There were loads of double figure fish and PBs for most anglers. Admittedly it was hard to keep an accurate tall but we finished with 82 spurs and 54 hounds. We also had 8 rays, loads of dogfish and a few whiting. There were some serious amounts of fish there that day and hopefully it's one we will all remember. Not quite matching our biggest ever day of 88 but getting close.
We had lots of other days with great numbers and double figure fish. On a quieter day I even managed to sneak out a double shot of small ones.
Although we experienced some great fishing I am a bit concerned that the general stamp seems to have dropped significantly and some areas just aren't producing at all. Hopefully it's just a lul and not due to commercial pressure since the reintroduction of commercial quota for spurs. Only time will tell.
For now, with our spur season wrapped up we will be targeting big tope as well as turning our attention to the offshore bass fishing as it improves. I have a few spaces left for tope and loads of availability for bass between now and December. We target them in various areas from shallow banks to deep water. On lures, static baits and live baits. Please get in touch if you fancy in offshore trip or even a general trip.
