period 4-8 june 2015
the summer species are seemingly surging north to portpatrick and the north channel
on Thursday we had 30 herring and 7 mackerel a solo codling but also coalies, gurnard, haddock another scorpion fish and some Pollack upto 4.5lb from the weeds at the harbour entrance....so far this season, the ground at the harbour is the place producing the goods, provided you can avoid the lobster pot buoys!!
Friday and Saturday.....too windy
Sunday saw beechwood SAC join me and we had around 30 mackerel and 1 herring......we also caught coalies ,plaice, gurnard and lots of small haddock and codling(8-10") with a few keepers thrown in.....Pollack failed to show in the weeds
water clarity remains good -

we had a quick 3 hrs out this morning before the wind got up and we caught whiting haddock to 2lb and a lone codling at 2lb as well as a 3.5lb Pollack out of the weeds in the harbour entrance....the Pollack seem well established close in tho a bit small(largest 4.5lb)....just need the sandeels to arrive and the larger specimens will surely follow....water clarity remains good

The wind has not been kind to us but we have managed a couple of trips out and what is showing is a lot of codling between 12oz and 1.5lb with a taste for black lug in the shallower water.
we have also had quite a few coalies upto 2.5lb and lots of huss upto 4lb.....nothing worthy of a photo ,but it shows that the fish are there and that fishing continues through the winter (when the wind allows!!) from portpatrick
