    period 8th & 9th Oct.......
finally the wind eased and we managed to put to sea.On the sunday we had a few mackerel, some plump cod and haddock, loads of bait sized whiting which we flappered ,about 15 huss, all doubles with the best at 14lb and over 70 spurdogs that ranged from 12oz to 8lb.....never seen such small spurdogs! and they were coming up 2/3 at a time! we also had 3 common skate hooked and one landed at 54lb.
On the monday, the quantity of fish was less but the size was bigger.we landed about the same amount of huss upto 14lb,we landed 15 spurdogs in the 12-14lb range with the best at 18lb and a couple around 16lb.we also hooked 3 commons but landed only one at 84lb.again,the preferred bait was whiting flapper.

the boat is coming out of the water during early november til the beginning of march.

Had charlie dunn and the boys on on the 28th and we managed nearly a full day but a strengtening wind cut us short.
    the boys got whiting,haddock,mackerel,all 3 gurnards(best 3.7lb tub),tope,huss and spurdog.
the tope was tiny at 5lb,the huss averaged 14lb and the 2 spurdogs weighed around the 12lb mark
most fish caught on whiting flapper but salmon fillet(!!!!) also worked as did the mini mackerel.
pictured is vinny with his tiny tope

26 Sep 2017 by dominic wilson

period 22nd sept to 26th september......

the wind continues to blow and the water remains the colour of chocolate(until the very last of the ebb!)

thursday 22nd saw us put to sea on a blustery day with big spring tides and coloured water so we had to fish tight in to the cliffs...doggies and small whiting were constant and bull huss were taking hold and wrestling with the bait but getting away...finally (after changing to circle hooks) ,in the last 20 mins we hooked and landed 2 x 14lb bullhuss and tope at 25/31lb with a much larger one lost

monday 26th...tides had eased and we had the first of the flood with a few mackerel showing on a distant bank...we caught 10 spurdogs in the 9-12lb range and a couple of huss at the first mark. Then a move and we caught around 15 huss ,all doubles and the best at 13lb
......again,whiting flapper was the most successful bait

28 Aug 2017 by dominic wilson

    period 15-28th august 2017......
extended reporting period due to losing so many days to the wind!
the pollack fishing under the cliffs is going great guns with many fish over the 4.5lb and a few into the 6lb bracket.these fish are now a lovely bronze/copper colour having been in the kelp so long.Notable catches were by Derek and Ben who spent 2 full days floatfishing and amassed over 100 pollack.
we have also caught....coalies,doggies ,huss,spurs,herring,codling,whiting,haddock,pouting,red/grey/tub gurnard, small ling, dabs and a flounder. Matt even caught 5 gurnards on one string of feathers!
plenty of mackerel around with a good number pushing the 2lb grade, especially on the ebb tide.we also have the yearly influx of mini-mackerel,smallest being only 5" long but there are hundreds around about 8" long(see catch photos)
we have noticed an influx of small whiting and consequently an influx of the spurs and huss.this weekend past (26/27 aug) we have caught 45 spurdogs with biggest at 19.5lb(see photo) and the majority being 12-15lb with only the odd one under 10lb.the huss are starting to show again with the best being 14.4lb
