Had derek, keen float-fisher from hartlepool on for 2 days and pollack was the primary species.....funny 2 days really, hot and calm with excellent clarity and all the fish came from the harbour entrance after drifting some 4 miles of sea cliffs and inlets!
chrissy took the best fish both days...on wednesday it was a 10.5lb pollack and on day 2 it was a 7lb pollack.
weather was that good,we even managed a bbq at sea!

Derek from hartlepool booked the boat for 2 days pollack fishing(17 & 18 august) and werent disappointed.
mackerel were prolific on the headlands and as we had no ragworm, this was the preferred bait.sandeel was floatfished with no success except 3 snapoffs....artificials took some fish but freelined mackerel belly was the best method accounting for the 2 best fish (10.5lb and 7lb) and they both came from the harbour entrance...some 30 fish on day one averaging 3-4lb,day 2 slightly smaller but still as hungry!!
chris is pictured with the 10.5lb pollack
    all pollack returned

wind has been a major problem over the week and though nothing massive in size has been caught,we have been graced by some good sized tub gurnards(biggest 3.25lb) and plenty of other species with cod to 4lb,haddock to 2,5lb,pollack to 6lb,ballan wrasse to 1.5lb (in fact the police competion on tuesday saw 40 wrasse landed including 3 cuckoos!),some spurdog to 12.5lb and some jumbo mackerel to nearly 3lb!!
other species are doggies, whiting, coalfish, herring, sandeel, grey and red gurnard, dab and several ling to 4lb and a tiny solo smoothound.
fishing has been very varied but there are plenty of species on the rough ground and pollack are well established in the weeds on the headlands
