Over the last week we have caught Conger to 44lb, Ling to 18lb and Pollack to 10lb. The wreck fishing on the drift has been up and down, one day we caught 70+ Pollack the next day only a hand full. The strange thing is the size has dropped most are in the 3lb to 6lb range with the odd one over 10lb. Normally most Pollack on the wrecks are 6lb to 12lb with the odd bigger one thrown in, let's hope the big ones turn up again soon. Wreck fishing at anchor is a totally different story the Conger fishing is very good our best day was 46 in just two hours until the lads ran out of bait, they used 15kg of fresh mackerel in two hours.
I have now renamed fresh Mackerel as Conger Crack!! They can not get enough of it ha ha.
We start shark fishing this weekend one of my favourite types of fishing, there is something about catching big fish with big teeth, so watch this space. If you would like to join us on one of our charters then this is your chance, here is a full list of available dates!

Just returned from our second Guernsey trip of the year, the fishing was very hard on the wrecks and banks. The lads still managed to catch Ling to 19lb, Undulate Ray to 17lb, Pollack to 12lb, Cod to 11lb, Tub Gurnard to 5lb and Turbot to 3lb. The best day of the four day trip was when we targeted the reefs for Black Bream, the lads caught plenty to 2lb.
There have been a few reports of the first Blue Sharks being caught off Plymouth and we start Sharking on July 1st, let's hope we have a good season on the sharks like we did last year.

Sefton Sea Anglers have just enjoyed two days fishing onboard my boat Size Matters from Plymouth.
On the first day the plan was to drift our chosen wreck until the tide was just right to put the anchor down.
The lads we're kept busy catching 40+
Conger to 54lb, Ling to 26lb and Pollack to 8lb.
On the second day the plan was to drift a few wrecks using lures and bait for Ling, Cod and Pollack. Again they caught 40+ Pollack to 9lb and Ling to 23lb, the cod failed to make an appearance this time.
The lads enjoyed there two day trip that much they have booked 7 charters with me for next year. Size Matters 2018 diary is filling up nicely, if you want to fish the best tides for 2018 don't miss out and get booked on.

Just returned from our first Guernsey trip of the year, the lads wanted to fish the banks for three days targeting Turbot and Brill. Sadly after two days fishing the banks we only caught a hand full of Turbot and Brill to 5lb for our efforts.
I told the lads on the third day we need to go Wrecking because they all had a cool box each to fill with fillets before we got back to Plymouth. So the pressure was on, I had to pull all the stops out to save the three day trip from a total disaster. As we arrived at the first wreck I explained to the lads how to fish the wrecks using lures and try to avoid tangles. After the first few drifts the lads where into fish and they where performing like well oiled machines. Catching Ling to 21lb, Cod to 12lb, Pollack to 12lb and John Dory to 3lb. They managed to fill all there cool boxes with fillets!!!
I am not sure why the banks did not produce like they should do at this time of year, maybe it was the 7 days of bad weather we had before the trip.

The Guernsey Curse Continues!!!
Our second Guernsey trip of the year has been cancelled due to the strong winds. We have five more Gurnsey trips to do this year so hopefully we get over there at some point.
The fishing from Plymouth has been fantastic inshore marks we have been catching Ling to 12lb, Pollack to 8lb, Cod to 5lb and Whiting to 3lb. On the offshore marks we have been catching Conger to 66lb, Ling to 33lb, Pollack to 13lb, Coalfish to 8lb, Cod to 5lb and Whiting to 3lb. We are catching more and more cod each trip now, the anglers have hooked some good cod but failed to land them due to tight drags and inexperience. On one Conger trip the Corsair's deep sea fishing club member Gary Whewall from stoke landed Conger of 66lb, 50lb and 45lb on consecutive drops!! It was his first ever Conger fishing trip, Gary listened to my advice on how to hook a Conger in deep water and he reaped the rewards. I have just got my hands on a tide table for 2018 from a fellow skipper and I have started taking booking for next year, we are already 40% full for next season from Plymouth. If you want weekends with good tides or a multi day channel island trip then you need to book soon or you will miss out. The lads today decided to have a go at the Conger and they wasn't disappointed.
Before we got the anchor down we done a bit of drifting catching loads of Whiting to 3lb odd Ling to 12lb and Pollack to 4lb. After about 20 minutes on the anchor the Conger where on the feed They landed 50+ Conger to 52lb, between 4 of them in 3 hours.

I had a group of individuals onboard today, they had originally booked to target Cod. But with the Cod thin on the ground we decided to do the same as I did yesterday and fish half the day on the anchor and half the day on the drift.
After a slow start the fish started to feed and the lads caught 30+ Conger to 53lb, 8 Ling to 24lb and 15 Pollack to 17lb before it was time to head home. This is pretty standard fishing off Plymouth at the moment, if you fancy getting in on the action give me a call, text or email.
This Monday to Thursday we will be targeting the inshore reefs, these trips are ideal if you like catching Pollack, Ling, Bass and Cod on light tackle.

First day of the season back on the anchor chasing Conger and Ling. The plan was to fish the first 3 hours on the anchor then go on the drift for Pollack.
7 lads onboard who booked the whole boat, most of them had never see a conger let along caught one.
After about 20 minutes of the baits hitting the sea bed, the rods where bent over with conger and Ling hooked up. One angler Chris landed a cracking Conger of just over 80lb and it was his first time Conger fishing, followed by Colin with a nice fish of 60lb, most of the Conger where 20lb to 40lb. Best Ling tipped the scales at 19lb and on the drift there was plenty of Pollack to 8lb. Now we have set the standard for our Conger fishing this year, last year our best Conger was 86lb and this year I would love to get one over the magical 100lb mark.

The summer has finally arrived here in Plymouth, the weather is starting to settle and the fishing is as good as it gets.
Our Best day so far has been 81 Pollack to 15lb and 10 Ling to 20lb, most days we are catching 50 plus Pollack and Ling a trip.
Best Pollack so far tipped the scales at 17lb 5oz with very good numbers of double figure fish showing too. As for the Ling, most are 15lb to 20lb. We have also had the odd Cod to 6lb and Coalfish to 4lb. This time last year we where catching Cod to 17lb and in good numbers, this year they seem to be a bit late arriving.
We will start to put the anchor down starting from tomorrow, this should result in us catching some very big Ling and Conger.
