With the conditions settled and a sea like a mill pond we decided to open the taps and run to a couple of wrecks well offshore on Friday with some cracking results!

The shads fished well with the water being as clear as Gin. However the best fish on the day was that of Fred Mallander. A cracking cod of 16lb 5oz which took a cocktail of fresh mackerel and squid.
Happy anglers all round with fab conditions and a good bag of fish each.

The fishing in the morning was slow to say the least but after the change of tide things picked up and the ground on the 9 mile produced some cracking cod to just over 15lbs. Best ling on the day was just under 12lbs.
The baited Hokkais and cocktail rigs are still outfishing any artificial lures at the moment.

There have been some cracking fishing this week aboard the Shy-Torque.

We sailed a little earlier to try a wreck some 24 miles off shore. We haven't been to it for some time and expectations were running high on the way out!
With just 8 lads on board there was a load of room and hopefully a load of fish on the wreck. Sadly there wasn't!! However with some perseverance we managed to pull around 40 fish from it over a couple of hours so not too bad. Biggest fish was a 14lb ling caught by Nigel Hall from Richmond. He also had an 11lb cod on the same drop!

Sunday 22nd saw us heading North, starting the day feathering Mackerel for bait. Along with the macks came a Gurnard, the cloudy waters made the mackereling hard but we ended up with enough for bait so onto the roads for Smoothies, Whiting, Doggies and a nice Bass for Steve. another move to the sands for Skate and a lovely little Turbot with most fish returned by Davids crew from Herne Bay.

Today we headed out to the wrecks where the building NE breeze caused the sea to pick up but the crew managed some tasty Cod before we were forced to head for shelter behind the Goodwin sands, stopping off for some Mackerel on the Falls bank. The fresh mackerel made for good bait with Olivia landing her first Bass and Sam landing a nice Hound. Not huge fish but certainly plenty of species around at the moment giving some interesting fishing! -

Sam Walley and Kelsey Brookfields they showed the older members of the group how to catch fish with Kelsey on his first ever fishing trip catching 9 different species on his own , Sam had a nice Bull Huss 8 lb 6 oz .
These two young anglers never stopped fishing or catching all day and by the end of the day were baiting up and taking fish for themselves .
I know that they will be back again hoping for bigger things.
NO GIMMICKS , NO BULL , JUST RESULTS

Another fantastic day afloat today. The water seems to have cleared a bit over night so straight on the offensive with shads this morning, First few drifts saw every rod into fish. The fishing slowed down to a couple of fish a drift in the end but it stayed steady like that all day.

Around slack water we bait fished again, best Ling went 13lb today, but during the flood tide this morning we saw a nice cod of 12lb fall to a blue 4" shad!
Also we had Whiting to 2lb.
We experienced a Sunfish today which I can honestly say I have never seen off this coast. We popped it back in after a photo and it shot off like a Gazelle!
All in all a great day at sea with plenty of fish for everyone.

We locked out of the marina at 6am, with the water like oil. We proceeded to our first mark, some 26miles away. Got the lads fishing with mackeral coming aboard straight away. Moved to another mark 3miles further offshore. The lads were into fish from the off. These included Cod to 6lb, Huss to 10lb, Ballan Wrasse, etc. Moved to another mark were we caught a few more species. These were Dabs, Starry and Common Smoothounds etc. There were plenty of fish caught, with a total of 15 different species throughout the day.
Good day was had by all, we look forward to seeing the lads again soon.

An early start today.Leaving the marina a little after 04.30am it was certainly a glorious morning and this time of the year,I consider it to really be the best part of the day.
View Boats Page
Only the 3 of us today as one couldn't make it due to a family problem and one was a 'No Show'.It was a busy old day really. The Mackerel seemed scarce today. No idea why,it just seems to vary from day to day.We got enough for what we wanted anyway.
We put the Hook down where we should of done it yesterday.I always think it helps to go with the banker mark rather than where you think they 'May' be.
From the off we was into Hounds. Not big fish, the biggest around 10lb but plenty of them and it kept the rods nodding.....Along with the weed.
Brian had never been Hound fishing or indeed used Hermits.I think he is now hooked lol
Dan caught well and of course, had to go and spoil it by catching a roker! I think I had one too at one stage lol
At low water I gave the option of what they wanted to do. We decided to go off south a couple of miles and see if we could find a bigger Bass, rather than going up and into the sands for more Hounds on the flood tide. I set the hook in about 14ft of water.I like it here. The water swirls and rushes over a rock hard lumpy bottom.I know Andy likes it here because he has had 3 Double figure Bass with me from this spot. You seem to either get the big ones here or none at all. Today the Bass never wanted to know. The Hounds were playing here though and they go off like Exocet Missiles once they get any inclination things are not right in there crub munching and noshing world lol
Not big fish 6-8lb fish but they fight like Demons here and are great fun to catch at this spot.
All in all another Glorious day with plenty of fish to keep the interest and of course it was Hot,Hot,Hot again!
Day off tomorrow as I need to to do a few bits and to try too grown some new skin on my hands after 4 days on the trot Hound fishing, but out again Friday,Saturday and Sunday.
