    Report on-board Mistress

The tides have fallen away again now, typically the wind and swell has picked up too. We managed to get out today despite a long lazy sea sick swell from the north!.
Starting at a wreck on the 4 mile, we managed a few fish, then steadily working our way off stopping at a few wrecks on the way, all the way out to 18 miles. We manged a good few fish today for our regular lads (and lasses).
Onboard we had quite a number of different species, Cod, Pollock, Ling, Pouting, Whiting, Mackerel, Tub Gurnard, Coalfish, and a solitary Weaver!
We took Cod and Ling into double figures, and plenty of Pollock and coalies upto around 4lb in size.

Pictures is Mistress regualr Andrew Reid with a cod touching Double figures.

    Report on-board Supanova II

Just had my first wrecking trip (ever) onboard Supanova. Just wanted to say Lyle was an excellant skipper and instructor not just for me but everyone onboard. Caught my first ever cod (in fact 4 off 6/7lbs) plus 3 Pollock only slightly smaller.Only disapointment was having to reel in and come in at the end of the day.
    Thanks Lyle

    Report on-board Supreme

A group of us pen-pushers had a good days fishing with Steve on Tuesday. Thought we were going to have a rough day and threats of a shortened trip faced us. Still when we cleared the river mouth and got settled we picked up the mackerel-mostly joey size but ideal baits. Then after a rough ride further out all eased up on anchor and the fish started coming, in fact they kept on coming with. Tope, Ray, Huss, Dogs, Gurnards, Whiting, Dab's and even a squid. In fact it was the best day I have had on the Huss which mostly ran to near double figures with squid baits working best. All in all we must have had near 800 fish, nearly all returned, were kept entertained by gannets and a skewer picking up discarded bait, and of course Steve not only keeping the match totals, supplying copious amounts of tea, butties and pasties but giving out rigs tips and advice when he was not netting the Tope and Huss. Can’t wait to get out again with Steve on Supreme!

  • 10/07/2012 Fishing Report by Eric Robinson on Supreme (Rhyl, Denbighshire)

10 Jul 2012 by Eric Robinson

    Report on-board Supreme

The annual Revenue & Customs North West Regional Boat fishing comp was held on10th July 2012 hosted by Steve Andrews on Supreme.
By a stroke of luck the rain that was forecast did not materialise. The direction of the freshening wind was kind to the anglers aboard who enjoyed comfortable conditions whilst fishing the mark selected by the skipper after stopping off for Mackerel which was in plentiful both on the drift and whilst anchored up.
The fishing was steady throughout the day keeping the competitors busy. Getting through the Whiting that seemed to plague some of us, was a problem but everyone managed to secure good species count that were punctuated by some very large Huss, and individual captures of decent sized Thornback Ray and Tope. Scoring fish appeared on a frequent basis. Despite being kept busy with the steady stream of scores being called out, Steve was able to confirm each report and keep us in tea and snacks. He is a multitasking genius.
The Gurnard turned up late in the day - just before we were due to put back in and the outcome of the competition was very close run thing. Those who had done well as expected and those who did less well celebrated the success of another brilliant days fishing in great company.
Great credit is due to all of the participants who gave their all to make the day the success that it was, and to our skipper for making it all possible.

Yet another great day out with Jon. A little Damp but then I should learn to believe our weather men.. Come on ! How often do they get it right ?.. Not a good day for shorts and summer jacket. Never the less we all had a great day out and Jon was as usual a great skipper. Looking forward to a change in weather and some evenings enjoying the sunsets in the North Sea. Thanks Again Jon

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Lovely start to the day was expecting some skate after the weekends strong tides, nice and flat, headed north again to the banks armed with fresh mackerel and squid. Slow start with one nice smoothy for Dan pictured, and a small Red Gurnard for yours truly, wind started to get up and followed by a lovely downpour! Decided to head out to deeper water for a bit of clarity to find some feather sport as the wind making anchoring up difficult. No bass today, plenty of small whitting followed by mackerel, everyone hooking in and taking a feed home. Not as many as previous day but good sport and plenty to keep us busy. The lads all done well despite the conditions big thank you to Dan,J,Keith,Mark,Dave,Chris,Andy,Pop and Kev, hope you enjoyed your day men.

    Jon.
