Been out with Rich on Mistress before, it was with my 11 year old son and it was his first time, Rich couldn’t help my son enough and he caught fish. Was out with him again today with my son and it was hard going but Rich still managed to get us a bag full of keepers (cod)
Would recommend to anyone from beginner to professional angler.
    Thanks Rich

  • 5-star Andrew Pisnyy (18/02/2018)

It was our greatest fishing trip so far! We traveled a long way from London to Whitby with a hope to catch our first cod. We arrived a day before to ensure we're on time, it was definitely worth the effort. What a truly great skipper Rich is! Friendly, helpful and most importantly - a real fishermen. Also, have to mention his assistant too, who was helping during the day, was well experienced, patient and polite. There was no time wasted on a slower marks - Rich was very prompt in relocating the boat and trying to put us on the fish all the time.

It was even better to see him fishing too . We had a good day and a good catch. I could have caught even more if I was more experienced angler, I had missed about 5 good baits. We had 31 ( 29 codlings + 2 whitings) between 3 of us and I believe I had the biggest one (1.5kg), but all fish was of a good size. The only regret is that the time was going fast and when we arrived to the last mark, where cod start baiting very actively - we had to leave and make our way back just after abut 30 minutes .

The boat was quite tight for 11 anglers and 2 crew in total. Rich deserves a much better and bigger boat.
    Well done Rich!
Look forward to fishing with you again.

    Best wishes,

managed to get out today tide did not look good only 5mts but you have to be in it to win it . Only 2 of us plus rich on the boat after a couple of no shows but all credit to rich for taking us out knowing he not going to make any money for the day. We started out close to the harbour fishing over kelp and had a good hour taking small codling putting a lot back just in size , Had a move when tide got going then had a couple of good hours putting about 12 good size fish in my box from 3 to 8lb . Was quiet for a couple of hours at slack water then back on them for last hour don,t know what final count was but we had a great day cheers rich. ps you guys who didn,t get out missed a cracking day.

Time for an update from us as we hit a day of bad weather at whitby!

The fishing this past week has been pretty good, some nice fish landed by our anglers, just missing out on the dailys buy a few oz each day.

We lost an enormous fish the other day, so it just goes to show theres still some big fish about.

Yesterday with the fresh sw winds we were kept well inshore, everything came together with the water clearing and we absolutely smashed it on shads, the 6 lads must have caught and returned around 150 codlings for the day, nothing big but most on the 2lb to 5lb range. They kept a few but a lot were returned.

Its been a while coming but it looks like the mackerel are set in at last too.

If youre interested in a trip with me, drop me a call or text on 07977 436903.

Ive been meaning to drop an update onto our page from the Whitby Charter Skippers Association - R.N.L.I charity boat angling competition on 09/06/2019

We'd had a tough day on our charter, so no one was more surprised than me when I followed a hunch and it really paid off for us. We fished just one wreck on the evening and it was non stop the whole time with 3 or 4 rods in every drift.

    Time for an update!

The last week has been fairly consistent, the water is finally starting to clear from this may water.

We're beginning to see a few mackerel boated too so they should be with us in better numbers in the next couple of weeks.

The wrecking has been producing some nice cod and ling for our anglers with us getting fish into double figures fairly regularly.

Yesterdays best angler took 14 fish for the table, we also saw a cracking cod bouncing around the 12lb mark on the boat scales for mistress regular Matt from Sheffield.

We've getting the fish on a mixture of bait and shads, it always worth bringing squid with you.

We've still some good tides available in the upcoming festival, and also plenty of mid week dates all other times.

Another date for your diary is the RNLI charity night which is Sunday 9th June, we have 7 places available, this is a very popular evening donating to a good cause.

If you're interested in a trip with me give me a call or text on 07977 436903,

I only managed a few photos today, its was a steady day, best angler kept a dozen with a couple of throw backs.

A count up at the end of the day saw around 50 keepers for our efforts.

We have spaces all week, we only need 3 minimum to sail.

Give me a call or text on 07977 436903 with any enquiries
