    Report on-board Deep Blue

    Friday 11th April.
    What a belter.
    I got my timings messed up today due to squeezing in the earlier lock. So, when the plan was to fish the last bit of the flood for smoothies, I in reality got us there an hour before I should, and missed out on a bit of fishing elsewhere as a result…
    WELL I WENT AND REDEEMED MYSELF!!
    Half a dozen Smoothies, gurnard, whiting, dabs, doggies, mackerel & would you believe it the - ��‍♂️�� FIRST BREAM OF THE SEASON �� ��‍♂️ landed before high water.
    Reef fishing for the second half, which was pretty good judging by the smiles on my crews faces ��.
    Codlings, Pollack, Wrasse, more mackies and the long awaited bass.
    Again, the stamp and quantity of pollack was exceptional. A couple of fish in the early doubles, and the bulk of the rest of them were high single digits.
    No monster bass, with quite a few borderline, which were returned. Nevertheless, it’s so refreshing seeing the birds going bonkers once more.
    The bigger smoothies, and first Tope of the season must be imminent too.
