    Report on-board Rapid Fisher

A break in the weather & Rapid Fisher was quick off the mark to race to a set of banks to fish for blonde rays. The crew for the day were the local oyster fisherman from Poole.

After a quick steam out at 20 knots we arrived at our mark & the boat was set up to drop anchor & lines were dropped over the side in anticipation. A few small blondes resulted, enough to keep the lads busy, but i knew there were some bigger ones to be had.

As the tide picked up I decided to try a close by wreck to try for pollack & with twin 320hp nanni engines we were there in the time it took to drink a cuppa!!

Unfortunately after a couple of drifts only one small pollack! I made the decision not to go further to other wrecks as I had a feeling they was going to be the same, so I made the decision to go back to the banks to try and find the bigger blondes. For the rest of the afternoon we were in to blonde rays (the biggest falling to Rob at a shade over 18lbs) and believe it or not a bigger pollack than on the wreck!! Two of the lads hooked into something big and whilst one of them only had it on for a few minutes it managed to go through 30lb braid. The other was played for around 45 minutes and got close to the boat twice but again whatever it was it got the better of 30lb braid.

All in all a good day where the experience of the skipper paid dividend.

Tight lines to all my customers for the coming season

    Paul
