Me and a few friends deciced to have a days wreck fishing so we booked up wiith Barry Handley on Malaki . We were told to be at sparks marina for 7am start.Well we all met up at 6:30am,loaded the tackle on the boat ,then we left the marina at 7 sharp. The weather was great, the sun was out and the sea was flat,so we were all looking at each other hoping for a good day.Little did we know what was in store. We made our way out to the first wreck which took about 2hrs,which we took a few fish off, then we moved to the next wreck with the same result. Barry then said lines up we are going out further to the next wreck. When we arrived barry lined the boat up and gave the call to drop our lures down, then we were all into big Pollock.on each drift we were taking double figure fish. Sreve harber on the back had 5 fish up to 15lb 9ozs, Stuart had 9 fish up to 16lb, Brains biggest 11lb and Jason the skippers son after mixed start had fish up to 12lb 6ozs. When we had enough fish we upped lines headed for home. what a great days fishing with most fish into double figures. Thanks barry for putting us onto the fish and the rest of the crew for making it such a good day. Some of catch can be seen on the web site

Fishing Report by Stuart Cross on Malaki 20/4/16

The voices in my head forced me to go fishing again {medication not working] Me , my dad and mate Basher had a day on Malaki with Barry Handley. It was a cracking day - great weather and great fishing . We went straight out on the 40 mile wrecks picking up a few good table size Pollack on the first couple.
We then moved to one that had mainly low doubles on it. A very small tide so I opted for my fast retrieve reel- bingo 9 pollock to 16lb most of them doubles. My dad was on a slow retrieve reel – 2 pollock – rubbish whooped his arse ! We both lost a couple that just kept going with rods bent double- bugger! Basher had 5, all good fish biggest 14lb I think.
After my dad and mini me beating me on the last two trips it was time for pay back- whose the daddy!! Just a quick piece of advice, if your fishing sidewinders and your having a friendly competition a packet of wine gums will help, cut all different colours into small pieces, match the colour to the lure and place on your mates hook point it’s a darstadly plan but very effective!
When they say the fish are finicky, make sure you keep a straight face 40 miles is too far to swim.
    Thanks Barry laughed all day.

    June !!
Nearly all the species are here now, even the conger eel has moved inshore. And of course the weed
has come which can make fishing a bit of a problem. But you just have to find the places that are weed free
during the floood and ebb tide cycle.
We started the month of well on Malaki with plenty of Bream, Plaice, Bass & Tope, then the weather
stopped fishing it's almost like winter but l guess it's down to green house gases or is it ???
However were bashing on and getting out when we can. Had a couple of bad trips last week but this week
were back on form catching bass, conger, tope and lots of ray's so if you get a spare day, your always welcome to join us onboard Malaki !!

The picture is of Ken a very good angler and l am pleased to say a regular on Malaki with a nice 5lb 1oz plaice caught on the drift using ragworm and beades.

Well here we are mid April and the fishing started, we just had three good weeks on the Plaice landing plenty
of fish around the 4Ib mark. Bream are patchy but they are being caught on Malaki we managed a total bag
of 29 a couple of days ago with fish to 3Ib, Fair play to the guys they put over half back. The very next day
we hit the smoothound upto 12.2Ibs. The early signs are good so perhaps there be plenty of tight lines
    out there this year.
The Picture opposite - Benn Watts a very keen young angler who in my opinion has the potential to become a world class angler thats if girls, racing bikes, etc. don't get in way, let's hope he gets his prioritys in order.
