With the water beginning to warm here in Cardigan Bay it is now that our minds turn towards balmy Tope filled days of mad catching and the rattle of black bream on the end of light rods. The Bay is coming to life and the next few months are the time to get aboard Legend of New Quay and sample some of the best rough ground fishing that the UK has to offer.

Here at Epic Fishing Trips of New Quay, west Wales we pride ourselves on delivering some fantastic fishing days out. Our new vessel for 2018 'Legend of New Quay' will help us get you to the right spot, ready for a cracking day at sea. She is the first of her kind in the UK. A Cheetah Marine cat of unique pedigree. With higher gunnels that any cheetah cat yet built, a beam of 3.7 metres and a length of 10.2 metres she will provide a dry comfortable ride to the fishing grounds. Powered by two Yamaha 150hp outboards her cruise will be quick too = more fishing time for you! Seating for all aboard is provided, baiting tables cleverly positioned and fishing up to six rods across the stern, she is built to fish.

Our in depth knowledge of the local grounds has been built through hours at sea. Our previous vessel 3 Fishes built a classy reputation as a fish catcher and 'Legend' will better her. With twelve years of running fishing trips out of New Quay I am keen to get 'Legend' out there and fishing in 2018. Our season will start by mid March when we will be chasing monster huss, spurdogs, rays and some quality whiting. By June it will be all tope and bream and towards the back end its bass time.

Be Epic and join me aboard 'Legend' in 2018.

Excellent tope and bream fishing at the moment. Had the Talbot sea angling club on Saturday and they boated 23 tope and a good catch of bream and other species. Fishing is very productive at the moment with catches of 12 plus tope daily.

I'm sure that the chat about cold water conditions and a late season has caught up with you wherever you are.. I believed it all too but the interesting thing is we have just started finding bass which matches last year almost to the day (25th May first fish last year). Its lovely to see bass following the lure and with clear water conditions due soon we'll start seeing this more and more. Here's Jack getting hit hard by a fish which he then lost!

Getting some really good whiting right now... suprising as the water is still very cold but the fishing is good with anglers going home with a feed and some for the freezer. Bassing starts in earnest tomorrow with near ideal conditions so we should have some serious fish to talk about soon.....

The bass season starts in mid April here on the West Wales coast and we'll be on 'em from then onwards. I'm expecting a slow start as the water warms through May with the fishing rapidly improving through June to a peak by mid August. The Makkies will show on 1st May and from then onwards we will be able to chase large packs of Tope that always follow the fish. Breaming will be May onwards and this year I'm expecting to boat a massive huss! www.facebook.com/bassfishingtrips will keep you updated on what we are on. Best regards, Tim Harrison Pro Bass Guide and Sea Angler Magazine feature writer.

Enjoyed a trip out on Celtic Wildcat with my club - the Danglers this weekend. Each year we have many trips out with skipper Nick O'Sullivan and one of our favourites is the Aberystwyth weekend after tope and bream. The weather made this trip a Sunday only outing in 2010 but I was very happy to bag a PB 30lb tope in the morning! We also had huss, huge weevers, scorpion fish - a real Cardigan Bay variety. Then in the afternoon, the bream came on the feed in force on our second mark of the day and it was non stop action for the rest of the trip with everyone catching and having a few to take hope for supper. As ever, Nick kept us on the fish all day and with the speed of Widlcat we were out at the marks in no time at all and fishing in comfort on the spacious deck area. Really enjoyed the day and looking forward to the rest of the 2010 season and beyond.

    Saturday 22nd May.
This was a red letter day for Tope fishing in Cardigan Bay. A total of 33 Tope were boated all male in the 18lb to 34lb range. We lost a further 12 at the boat due to tangled lines. Bull Huss, LSDs, Whiting, Dab, Red Gurnard and Weaver were also landed on the day.
