18 May 2018 by Lee Rossie

    Rob,
Thanks for putting us on the fish. Hard work on your part but your efforts paid dividends.
The day was targeting Bream though in recent weeks the Bream have’nt shown in any numbers or size so no one place was fishing well.
We moved three times in as many hours as no one spot was producing.
We anchored and during slack drifted with a couple of Bream at the start of the drift.
Tide turned. We anchored and BAM we hit the Bream. Some very nice males just shy of 3lbs with many round the 2lbs. Lasted for an hour or so and ended as quickly as it had started. Fantastically powerful fish on light tackle and smiles all round. Result.
We moved again and ended the day with Smoothound, dogger, Rays and Bream.

A wet & Windy Few Months so many trips cancelled

Cod fishing the poorest for many years but the ones we managed to land were nice size fish along with good double figure Pollack & lots of congers to 30lb . The whiting didnt let the fishing Down with plenty of fish up to the 3lb Mark so it wasn't all bad

The boat Cod Pool only reached £440 this year but a fine 16lb -8oz Fish For Garry Rickards took 1st place .

Hopefully will get out on a few more dates in January but this will focus mainly on whiting inshore & Spurs & bull Huss off Shore

I have spaces for Individuals on dates this month ( See Calendar )

If you're interested please give me a call or text on 07919 102069

    Happy New Year

  • 20/08/2017 Fishing Report by Mike Willmott

20 Aug 2017 by Mike Willmott

Went out on Sunday on Rob Hickin's Sea Juice. The plan was to do a days basing so on the way out we stopped to pick up some mackerel for live bait. Rob suggested that we put the anchor in until the tide was running well enough to drift for the bass. The 9 of us enjoyed a couple of hrs of general fishing and continuing to pick up live bai. Then it was time to go after what we were all after so up anchor and travel a further 4 miles out until we reached Robs selected spot. Over the next couple of hours we all caught our single bass to keep and returning a number of smaller hungry bass to fight on a different day. The bass were averaging around 4 to 5 lbs with the biggest weighing in at 8lb. We finished off we an hour of general ground fishing then set off for home all very satisfied with our days fishing. I can certainly highly recommend Rob he is a great skipper with a great sense of humour. Try his site for individual days or to hire his boat.

    Hi Rob,
Heart felt thanks for an amazing day.
Your relaxed style helped set the mood for an unforgetable day.
Excellent tackle, bait and regular cups of tea helped us all catch PB's. We have all learnt new skills.
We saw 9 species landed (including a 14lb Smothhound and doule figure rays). You constantly predicted what we could catch next.
We look forward to our next trip with you soon. Kevin (Ken).

  • 12/2016 Fishing Report by Rob Hickin

    Dec 2016 by Rob Hickin

Fishing has picked up well during November with good size Whiting to 2.5lb turning up in the eastern solent along with some bigger Cod,
On Deep water marks Cod ,Bullhuss , Spurs , Congers to 35lb seem to have switched to their winter feed up .some days they are becoming a nuisance as other fish not getting a chance on the baits .but cant complain they still put a nice bend in the rod . best Cod to date a nice 24lb for Aidan which fell to a dirty squid bait.

Things should continue to improve for December lets hope the weather is kind & i can get offshore on the Small tides for Blondes Spurs & Bull Huss along with the bigger Cod & no doubt Congers

The .Solent should continue to produce good bags of whiting along with the cod

I have dates / spaces available for Groups & Individuals see my calendar for details

Offshore still a bit hit & Miss but some nice fish turning up . on the next set of neap tides should see some improvement with Cod & conger putting in good appearance . Best baits normal for this time of year Black lug squid & cuttlefish
