    Saturday 21st July

A stag do which turn out to be one of the nicest days this year weather wise.

Medium tides and 0mph wind allowed us to venture round to Trearddur bay, After a 45 minute steam lines down was called and within seconds the first mackeral were coming into the boat so after a breif hour of Macky bashing including a small bass we decided to leave Trearddur bay and go in search of a few tope around Holyhead deeps.

So an hour steam once again saw us drop anchor in around 200feet of water only to have a very slow start for the first 45minutes, as soon as the tide started to slacken we had the first run which produced a fine 28lb Tope.

Within the next 2 hours we had 2 more Tope a 18lb and a lovely 45lb along with Spurdgods to 12lb, Bullhuss to 10b, Plenty of spotty Dogs and whitting also, Then we finished the day with a few more Mackeral for the table.

Overall a very good day and fantastic crew along with superb weather.

Today and the next couple have been called off due to bad weather.

Fishing inshore this last week due to the weather not being the best.

The bay is producing plenty of Rays and Huss with a few smothies still around and the odd Tope run here and there.

The last weekend saw a big competion organised by my self and a local angler Goeff, A great turn out with 35 poeple attending which required 4 boats.
Most were knew to the sport which is fantastic to see and have the pleasure of tutoring them through the day.
The winning prize was £180 to the heavyest fish which ended to be the first fish caught on the day a lovely 12lb blonde ray.

A superb result and to be shceduled for similar time next year and fingeres crossed to possibly increase to yet another boat.

Over the weekend we had in excess of 30 rays mostly being Spotted rays with some small Blondes and the first ever Cuckoo ray aboard the boat.
Plenty of Huss made an aperence with many other smaller species.

Best spot on the day was a certain position only known to myself which produced a fantastic 12 species at anchor.

Couple of days off know then start on the wrecks and Spurdogs from wednesday onwards.

June - weather has been up and down but when it was down boy did we get out to some great fishing offshore leaving the rest of the Holyhead fleet to fish under the rocks.
The wrecks have been producing big numbers of Pollac between 5-10lb with the few larger ones breaking the surface 10yards off the side of the boat just to make the show of the 10-14lb fish that little bit more exciting.
The Cod are still proving hard work were as this time last year there were masses of them around resulting in 200+ a day so fingeres crossed they arrive soon, Better late than never !

Anchoring in many of my offshore marks for Tope has been an experiance to say the least but without a single Tope !!
This is due to the numbers of spurdog we have seen this year and with a haul of 120 Spurdogs from 4lb to 17lb over 3 slack waters this proceded to be a fantastic few days fishing, unfortunatly we did have have a couple of Tope runs but with everyone hauling in Spurdogs they were rather over excited and managed to snap the off :(

This last couple of days we managed to try a few inshore marks despite the weather take a dive for the worst with south-westerly winds reaching 45mph.
Inshore is producing plenty of the usual species like Dogs, Huss, Whitting, Rays, Dabs, Gurnards, Codling and still a few Hounds here and there whilst on the drift the are plenty of Wrasse and Pollack to 4lb.

The wrecks are fishing very well at the moment with plenty of fish between 4-8lb and a few from 8-14lb making an apperence on most trips.

Pictured is a group of lads I had on from the Wirral for a generel days fishing which we managed a few hours on a wreck due to the weather being kind, And with a good haul of 50-60 fish in a couple of hours its was smiles all around.

Only midweek dates left for the wrecks now so get booking to avoid dissapointment.

Winter Conger trips will be starting from late October with a few dates still available

    Sunday 10th June,

A day with Bold Sea Angling Club

Well the weather died off and alowing us to visit a few wrecks around the 20-30mile mark off Holyhead, we set sail at 7:30 with the kettle on ready for a brew once we were underway.
First stop off for the day on a wreck around 12 miles just to breck up the traveling time which after 4 drifts produced around 8 Pollack to 6lb.
A further hour steam out we arrived at our venue for the day and working closely with a vessel from Caernarfon to find the fish around the different wrecks of St.Goerges Channel.
Calling lines down on the first drift and almost instantely people calling for the net with fish around the 4-7lb mark which was another perfect start on a wrecking trip.
This kept up until the tide slackend and as always on slack water the smaller fish around the 2-3lb came out to play one after another with the odd coalie and we had this until the tide turned and the flow increased which saw the smaller fish disipate and the larger Pollack from 3-7lb start to feed with the odd codling, once the tide got too strong we headed to a wreck a bit closer in to finish the day which on the first 4 drifts saw a fish to the same person each drift lucky man with the right colour jelly! but it soon came to the last drift of the day which 4 out of 6 hit fish around the 5lb mark to finish.

So a good 2 hour steam home with my crew man watching the wheel whilst i filleted all the fish and the lads tucked in to a nice big pan of hot pot.

The Cod should be making more of an apperence on the wrecks soon and the larger Pollack to follow, Back out there a few times this next week so it should be intresting to see if a few Cod make an apperence.

    MAY **

Fishing started off slow and picked up through the month as to be expected.

Mackeral are still very slow but there is plenty of Pollack, Wrasse and Coalies to compensate on the reefs.

Anchor inshore is producing plenty of Dogs, Huss, Whiting, Codling, Dabs with Smoth-hound and Rays coming up if targeted.

Wrecks are picking up slowly with mostly Pollack coming up but with every trip out to them we are expecting more Cod to start showing slowly.

Well what can i say, the weather has been awfull and still is awfull only giving us a few days at sea.

April saw plnety of Pollack and Coailes on the inshore reefs with the usual suspects at anchor.

The start of may has been mostly tied up in the marina with the weather only breaking for 6 days at sea to date but being rewarded with a fair amount of fish from Pollack, Coalies, Codling, Wrasse and Mackeral on the drift and plenty of Huss, Dogs, Whiting, Coalies, Pouts, Poorcod and Ocotpus at anchor.

We got out this weekend and with the weather up and down the plan was Holyhead Bay to try for Pollack, Wrasse and the possiblility of a Hound or 2 , and we were rewarded with plenty of Pollack around 3-4lb with a couple 5-6lbers, more wrasse then we could hook and ofcourse the first Smouth-hound from Holyhead Bay in 2012.

Weather has gone bad again for the next few days so fingers crossed for this following weekend.
