As we come to the end of our first week back on the mighty Mersey we take a quick look at the action......
The Cod river, well we have boated Codling on every trip albeit particularly small at the time being, this is mostly down to the current water temperature being a tad high. We have some cold weather due in this next 7-10 days which will no doubt bring some larger cod into the river.
The ray fishing has been good for the majority, best day bringing just shy of 30 to 5 rods, with one day only bringing 6, however we did sit out a few hours for a coddie or two.
Best fish of the week went to John Nicolas with a fine thornback ray of 11lb12oz, Plenty boated around 4-8lb.
Other catches included Dogfish, Whiting, Dabs and the odd crab
We'll be back next weekend on the cod hunt as the tides start to drop away -

Our first day back in Liverpool for the winter season was a fair success, we did manage a couple of Codling to 2 1/2lb which seemed to be a bonus with the current water temperature.
The rest of the catch made up with loads of whitings and dogs, along with 14 Ray's to 10lb 4oz and a single dab.
A stunning sun set to finish off the day
If you want to get out this winter, fire me a message, we have a few midweek dates left for the season on some great tides

Absolutely no words can describe how I am feeling right now!
Today we boated a fantastic Porbeagle just shy of the 100lb mark, an outstanding battle taking 2hrs 20 minutes on 20lb class Pollack set up, the first to be safely landed and released on a charter boat from Anglesey
A huge achievement for the lads on-board to whom I can only thank for making this happen

Nice veriaty of fish today, ran out to the wrecks this morning, albeit challenging conditions with 18knts of northerly wind but the lads persevered and boated Pollack to 13lb 2oz.
Short anchor session closer to home in the afternoon, Spurdogs once again were hectic!
Few lads stuck at it with feather, boating plenty of good sized Grey Gurnards and Mackerel.
Good session in challenging conditions -

Update - June
This past week we have turned our attention to many of the offshore wrecks of the Irish sea, some days covering 80-100miles in search of the good eating, hard fighting Pollack.
Some wrecks we have found plenty of fish, some wrecks Far fewer fish making the days patchy, hectic hours here and there.
Average stamp of fish has been 4-7lb with the 8lb-12lb fish making an appearance most days.
June and July is mostly booked up now, we have limited availability for August and September, also 2019 dairy is open and filling fast!
Don't forget to get your Winter Mersey Cod dates sorted asap
Let's hope the summer continues to bring settled weather -

Good day afloat despite the 20knts NE forecast.....
We headed for North Deeps this morning, albeit bouncy but we found maybe 20 lively Spurdogs to 15lb, Tope 25lb and Huss to 10lb.
Once the tide turned he headed for shelterd waters around the stacks to hopefully pull a few fish out on the drift. We did find a good amount of Pollack to 2lb and Codling to 5lb with a few Ballan Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse and Herring thrown in.
All in all a good day, 10 Species to the boat, some nice fish and a great laugh with the small boat guys.
Brings a good weekend of settled ISH weather to an end, 18 species tallied and a few great pictures. As usual the forecast had gone to pot for the next few days.
