A Jolly Rocky Weekend when the fish showed up.

This weekend we hosted Roth-well Sea Anglers, Unfortunately we only managed 2 out of the 3 days booked but we made the most of the weather instead of waiting for it to be ' favourable '.

Over the two days we concentrated the first couple of hours drifting reefs to the SW to find fresh bait. A selection of rigs / feathers to start with but after a few drifts the scratching rigs which are sold on board were showing the best results.

Saturday we fished an area to the west of Holyhead at anchor through the low water slack, We boated almost 30 Spurdogs best topping 18lb, 3 Tope to 30lb and countless BullHuss to 14lb.

Sunday the plan was the same but to spend a short time trying a wreck or two for some Pollack, In the end we only fished the one wreck as fish were coming up, 5 drifts total with fish hooked every drift.
Anchor was cut short due to the drift but we still managed 15 + BullHuss to 13lb, 6 Spurdogs to 18lb, 4 Tope to 15lb, Dogfish and a lone Whiting.

In total a brilliant weekend with a great crew, A few PB's broken and more welcoming anglers introduced into light tackle sport!

What more could a skipper ask for?

3 days already scheduled in for next year, Fingers crossed the guys bring some better weather

Red letter day thanks to a messed up forecast...... Started off fishing the reefs with plenty of the usual suspects coming to the boat along Wrasse, Pollack, Coalie ect.... with a few red / grey Gurnards, Codling to 4lb.

With slack water fast approching the decision was made to get set for anchor so after a short move offshore to holyhead deeps the hook was set, Within 5 minutes of the baits hitting the bottom the first fish was on the way up..... A fine Spur of 14lb, In true style this continued for the next 90 minutes with a tally of 30 Spurdogs, Sma Smallest 10lb and best just topping 18lb.
We managed just the one Tope @12lb, Huss 12lb and thankfully only a handful of doggies!!

Great day out in the channel, Not a boat in sight meaning I can pick and choose where we wanted to fish, In the end we only fished 2 out of the 5 routed wrecks for the day as we found plenty of fish.

First wreck produced 2-8lb fish, 2 at a time for those willing to get the paternoster style rigs on.

Second wreck a much better average of 5-9lb.8oz.

We lost some much bigger fish, Lost a rod, Snapped a rod, enjoyed the flat calm sea's, breakfast butties, biscuits, brews, Hotpot and cake......

Back out again tomorrow, Try a different route to see if we can find some bigger fish

The inshore fishing continues to be great with large numbers of Wrasse, Pollack, Coalies, Mackeral and Codling coming over the rails with some fine specimen fish mixed in.

As June gets underway we await settled weather to get back out to the wrecks as our interests turn to the deep water wrecks across the channel.

Brilliant day on the reefs round the SW coastline on Anglesey, Hundreds of fish boated, Some lovely Ballan Wrasse over 4lb, Pollack, Coalies, Male and Female Cuckoos, Codling, Launce, Jumbo Mackeral, Dogies and Huss.

Ragworm and Mackeral slithers taking the majority of the fish until we hit large shoals of Coalies then Sabikis took the way the multiple fish coming to most rods.

I'll be sorting through pictures tomorrow from the last 7 days afloat ready to update the website and get the latest live for all to see

Fish caught over this last weekend -

Dogfish, Bull huss, Thornback ray, Pouting, Poorcod, Grey Gurnard, Tub Gurnards, Ballan Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, Whitting, Pollack, Coalie, Codling, Dragonet, Dab, mackeral and Long Spined Sea Scorpion.

Best fish being a 14lb 11oz Bull huss.

The weather has been very up and down if late, Strong southerly winds which have been an average of 10-15kts above forecast has kept us in right behind the breakwater and down to Rocky Coast but still a great day can be had scratching around the many reefs and rough ground patches on the drift and at Anchor.

This week see's the tides increase moving the Tope onto the feed down in caernarfon bay and the Smoothies locally to holyhead, looking forward to a fun week on the water with settled weather!
As we get a rubby duby trail going for Tope on Thursday we'll be trying for garfish and mackeral on the lighter tackle, a bit early for gar's but as Gareth over on Spindrift recently landed one who knows!

Hi all ,I have just arrived home from a wrecking trip out of Holyhead Angelsey on board Bad Boyz skippered by Aaron.I am 66 years old and as you can imagine, I have been on countless trips some of which have been negative and some that where positive .Today's trip was a good one and clearly ranks in my top ten since I started fishing, we caught a lot of good quality fish ,mainly Pollack but getting fish is only part of a good trip, The service, expertise, knowledge of the job and a deep desire to ensure the customer ( us anglers who pay the money) get satisfaction and quality. I came off the boat feeling 100% satisfied which is something I have not done for awhile.
Bad Boyz delivers all round quality if that is what your after then get a trip booked with Bad Boyz out of Holyhead.
Thanks Aaron for a truly splendid day.
