We took advantage of a brief weather window the other day and enjoyed a fantastic day on the bass. Traditionally we would have written off bass fishing by the end of November but who could ignore fishing like this? Lures were the order of the day and with some fish pushing double figures this really was fantastic sport. Steve canham couldn't put a foot wrong and bought a steady stream of fish aboard all day. He was so busy that when I asked for a picture and went to grab my phone he had another by the time a returned! Steve was top rod on the day with 40-50 bass easily. Closely followed by Barry (who kept count with 36), Steve hill and the rest of the lads. Even I managed to nick a few out between netting, unhooking and steering. With bass still showing inshore we will be heading offshore in search of them in to December this year weather permitting. Please get in touch if you want to join us. I also have spaces this week on general trips

Keirans group may not have had the weather to get offshore for bass but thankfully there were plenty of fish to keep them busy inshore. The whiting and dogfish were there in droves but there were a few dabs, rays and I think even a small bass made an appearance. The inshore fishing should remain busy like this until after Christmas. Hopefully with the addition of a few more codling too. I have spaces this Wednesday and full boat availability over the next few weeks so please get in touch if you want to join us.

Joe and the lads made the most of a weather window the other day and were rewarded with a great day offshore on the bass. It was very busy at times as expected with several of the lads on a fish a cast. The stamp wasn't huge but there were plenty for the table and great sport with the rest.
The weather is looking good for Sunday and I have spaces offshore bass fishing.

The inshore fishing is still steady with loads of fish on our sheltered marks meaning little reason to cancel. Of course there are still hoards of whiting and dogfish with a few dabs and pouting in between. There are a few rays, codling and surprisingly still bass to showing to put a bend in the rods. There must be plenty about as even the skipper can catch them (must work on my selfie skills)

The lads from the Braintree sea anglers had a busy trip the other day. We were on an inshore trip so of course there were lots of dogfish and whiting to be caught. The day started well with 4 rays in the first hour along with double shots of dogfish, whiting and some dabs. We moved around throughout the day and found one or two more rays on each mark as well as a dear little codling for Chris to end the day.
I have spaces aboard Galloper this weekend and into next week.

It has been great to see one or two small codling mixed in with our inshore trips lately. Only small so far but nice to see and positive signs for the coming weeks. Ian was pleased to get the first one of the autumn. autumn is definitely running a little late this year so hopefully they will grow in size and numbers as time goes on. There are of course stacks of whiting and dogfish around. However in between them we are catching a few rays, dabs, pouting and the occasional bass or hound still. Offshore there are plenty of bass around and we will continue to target them into December this year as you can still keep in them.
I have spaces this week and next as well as the coming weeks.

The big bass continue to come aboard the Galloper. This brace of belting fish came aboard one after the other for fellow skipper Steve hill and Brian mead. There was a steady stream of fish coming aboard on lures in some challenging conditions. Steve's experience shone through as the day progressed with over 20 bass on two relatively short and intense sessions on the lures. It was almost fish a cast for him at times. Cheers for showing the lads how it's done Steve! Remember as we are allowed to retain bass after the end of November this year I will continue bass trips into December too. My next spaces offshore are on next Wednesday 08/11 @ £115pp lure fishing.
Then on a general trips on

The bass fishing continues to be good even in some pretty rough conditions. It was great to see Phil join the other lunatics despite some gnarly conditions. He had some quality bass too, let's hope the weather is better next time he's out. The bass will be around for a while yet and the good news is I will be running bass trips into December as we are allowed to keep them until the end of January. I have spaces offshore on Friday (03/11) this week weather permitting then inshore on 11/11 please call 07956411528

I often say that the fish, the boats and the weather come and go but it's the people who make or break a day on a charter boat. To be fair there was no shortage of fish the other day but whatever we were catching it was obvious that the lads would have a great day. Rick was pleased to be catching of whiting and dogfish first thing but he was over the moon when his first thornback ray came aboard. He had promised his dad that he would catch one for him and was only too pleased to have a picture and let her Go. How do we quantify that compared to the commercial value of that fish? There were a few bass showing too so can you imagine how made up he was when he had a cracking bass too! Making people's day and bringing them together is what it's all about. The bass are hanging around inshore very late this year and are in great numbers offshore which is nice to see.

There is certainly no shortage of life inshore on our general trips at the moment. Of course there are hoards of whiting and dogfish to work through. These are on our baits very quickly but if baits are changed very regularly then we can work through these fish. There is a real variety of species available some of which we might not expect. These conger were certainly a surprise to see. Not least because we had 2 on our day trip and 2 more in the evening! Now I appreciate that they might not break any records but they put a smile on my face. Considering i had never seen one off of the Essex coast until this year I certainly didn't expect to see 4 in one day inshore! Hopefully they get a chance to survive and flourish. Unfortunately I noticed that one of the commercial boats who caught one in his pots earlier this year thought the best thing to do was kill it. Despite them being rare and low value. This perfectly demonstrates their mentality. Unfortunately what they catch is only worth anything to them when it's dead.
I have a few spaces this week aboard Galloper from brightlingsea Essex including
