What a lovely brace of bass for father and daughter duo Andy and Honey. They were hooked simultaneously on opposite sides of the boat. Andy said he was so busy playing his that he didn't realise Honey was into a bigger one at the same time. There are is some great bass fishing to be had at the moment and I have spaces over the next few weeks including this Friday and Saturday aboard Galloper from brightlingsea Essex please call 07956411528

As you might expect the offshore bass fishing is in full swing at the moment. Given the right conditions and if you can afford it we can bass fish most of the time. They have varied in size and numbers from day to day and place to place. They are pretty widespread at the moment however the fishing is better in some places than others.
Jon and the lads joined us once again the other day. the weather was pretty good with a bit of breeze on the way out but an improving forecast for the day ahead. Unfortunately just as we set up to start bass fishing Jim managed to get a hook well and truly stock in his index finger! After a long journey out and with lots of fish showing beneath us the rest of the lads offered to head straight in but Jim insisted they carry on without him. We didn’t know how long we would stay for but Jim seemed ok and we monitored him as we started to fish.
Jon was first into a fish almost immediately! The other lads weren’t far behind him and there was soon a steady stream of chunky bass coming over the side. The stamp was great with lots of 4-5lb fish and several over that coming aboard. It was great to see such quality fishing but it made it even harder to drag our selves away from it. Jim insisted that he was ok so the lads decided to use their bait up and head in. we fished for 2.5-30 hours with only 4 rods fishing most of the time as Jim tried in vein to remove the hook and Dave would catch a fish then sit it out for a while before casually catching another. We easily had 30-40 decent bass in that time with the biggest falling to Jon and pushing double figures but landing just shy. Unfortunately there wasn’t much time for me to get pictures with everything going on but I grabbed one here and there. I’m sure they wont do the fishing much justice though.
As we headed in conditions fined right away, it was a shame to leave so soon when the fishing was that good but at least we had a nice ride home. Jim headed off to A&E to get the hook removed and I gather is on the mend now.
We will continue to bass fish offshore until the end of November. Hopefully we will have a few more days like this. Please remember the fish will vary in size and numbers from day to day and place to place
I also feel I should remind you that there is a national bag limit of two bass per angler per day. this has been the case for several years now. I don’t necessarily agree with it or the way things are but I wont allow you to break the law on my boat while I am responsible for you. I don’t care what nationality you are. I don’t care if other skippers turned a blind eye to your behaviour and Its not my fault if you claim that you weren’t aware of this law. If you wish to break the law, try to intimidate me or whinge all day because I wont let you do as you want then please go on somebody more desperate boat.
Sorry for the moan but as you may have guessed I had a snotty party that ruined a flat calm day full of fish with a poor attitude. All others are welcome, attitude makes the difference.

I have individual spaces and possibility of full boat bookings over the coming weeks and months if you want to get out.
Remember it is often worth giving me a shout if you are cancelled else where and still wish to get out, as we have lots of sheltered fishing available and a big catamaran which makes it even more comfortable.

The general fishing has become very autumnal in recent weeks as expected. There are hoards of whiting queuing up for our baits along with the sought after dogfish. It really is a bite a cast with a few rays, hounds, bass, dabs, pouting ect showing in between. I haven't spent much time inshore but I have heard of one or two codling starting to show. Looking forward to trying for them this week. I have a few spaces this Saturday inshore then next week offshore.

There is some nice mixed fishing around at the moment. Steve's group had a busy day on Sunday with over 20 smoothhounds, 15-20 bass, dogfish, whiting, a dab and lost a ray. There are better numbers of rays in places too and although the stamp isn't as good as other times of year there's still plenty to keep us busy when we aren't offshore.

The autumn bass fishing is in full swing now and pretty hot too right now. It was a pleasure to meet young William the other day and see him show the old boys how to catch them. Depending on conditions we are catching on bait and lures. He was lucky enough to experience both as well as perfect weather. We will be targeted bass offshore for the next 7-8 weeks depending on conditions. I have a few individual spaces and full boat availability midweek if you want to join us and make the most of it.

It has been a funny summer for bass fishing so far. At times the offshore fishing has been slower than we have grown to expect but closer inshore the numbers have been exceptionally good and at times nothing short of phenomenal. I put this down to the vast amount of bait fish congregating closer to shore than usual. As you can see the lads had a very good trip the other day when I was lucky enough to find the bass 7 days straight before they tailed off. We fished feathers expecting a few drifts on tiny school bass to pirk up a slow day. We were pleasently surprised when the feathers came up with loads of keepers on. The lads soon had their quota and changed to spinning outfits for more sport. I quickly snapped a picture to try and show just how busy it was. This was commonplace at the time. Hopefully this will be a great sign of things to come as we concentrate our efforts on the offshore banks over the coming months. I look forward to it and have a few individual spaces as well as full boat bookings available for offshore bass trips and general trips alike. Please contact me to join us on 07956411528

It's always nice to see something different and even more so when it's something rare and beautiful like these greater weaver. The pictures don't do them justice at all. Considering i don't know of any other boats catching them around here so you see several in one trip is great. Next spaces are in October some weekend bass trips and both general and bass trips available midweek. Please call 07956411628 for more information. With the weather being so nice I have been flat out working long hours on the Galloper so I apologize for the lack of posts. It has been glorious out at sea the last couple of weeks though I must admit at times we have had to work hard for the fish. The main bulk of hounds seems to have moved out now although we are still seeing some nice fish though n places and expect to do so for some time yet. The warm weather has put back the arrival of the autumn whiting, dogfish and rays although they won't be far away. Our catches have been made up by the bass really in various sizes and amounts. Some days have been exceptionally good. Other days we have had to work harder to find them. Currently my next spaces are on Friday 15/09 @ £60pp after that I have spaces in October
    Next spaces are
    07/10- offshore bass trip 6 spaces @ £100pp
    08/10- offshore bass 6 Spaces @ £100pp

We have continued to see some cracking hound's lately. There have been good numbers and a great average when we get among them. Although we catch them in various sizes and amounts throughout the year nowadays the main run of decent fish will draw to a close soon. I would say that this set of tides will likely be their last good showing of the year. Of course the bass continue to show and they are building in numbers on several of the offshore banks. I have spaces this week aboard Galloper from brightlingsea Essex for individuals and full boat bookings. so please contact me to book.
