Plenty of nice fish still coming off the Goodwins. Good size thornbacks, bass, dabs and chance spurdogs. Inshore fishing is now quiet as the fresh water seems to of pushed the better fish offshore with the sw winds. January/February will be targeting early bass, hounds, cod, spurdogs, 8 miles off around the spit bouy.

Been a great week onboard skerry, plenty of different species onboard, Thornbacks bass hounds whiting pout dabs dogs and a cracking gurnard, I do have spaces available this Saturday, but be quick as they fill fast, remember we are a full-time charterboat and operate every day,

After a great summer season, with many good bass landed, we will now pay our attention to the Autumn and Winter fishing onboard Skerry Belle. We will be targeting the rough grounds off the North Foreland where hopefully we should see a good run of codling inbetween 4-8lb. Large Autumn bass migrating south where 15lb fish are not uncommon and are regularly caught by the commercial netters. The large channel whiting will also be in numbers where fish up to 3lb are not uncommon. Also anchoring the wrecks around the Goodwins will attract an array of winter fish including thornback rays, which will start to show in numbers anytime soon.
Remember all our trips are inclusive of rod hire, quality baits, tuition and run 7 days a week. We also do gift vouchers for Christmas which can be sent out to your home address. Look forward to seeing you all onboard soon, and tight lines! -

Some excellent bass fishing onboard the Skerry Belle at the moment. With Dave booking a trip with us catching a fish of 11lb 6oz, and then directly after catching another of just over 12lb. Many other good fish coming up between the 6 and 8lb bracket with the occasional double thrown in. Still plenty of big hounds on crab baits. Thornback Rays and mackerel on feathers. Plenty of large thornbacks showing on the Goodwins with fish onboard of 15lb 2oz, 14lb 4oz, 14lb, 13lb 7oz, 13lb 3oz, 12lb 9oz, 12lb 6oz on yesterday's trip, all falling to fresh herring baits. Bass will also be our target next week, as the bass ban ends 1st April. Remember we are a full time charterboat and as long as we have 3 or more angler's onboard, we sail. Skerry Belle is now taking bookings for 2019, again our angling will be concentrated on the early bass fishing that we get in our waters. These can be really big fish, with double figure fish being caught on the best tides. The thornback ray fishing will really kick off as the fish move inshore to spawn, 40-50 fish a trip is not uncommon, there will always be a chance of a big cod as they Feed on the herring and the channel whiting should be making the 2lb bracket. Early season hounds should be making an appearance as the water temperature is still high.
