With strong tides on the new moon starting today and a blustery south west we decided to stay inshore and have a comfortable day. To be honest expected some skate which have been hanging around on the inside but we didnt get one today i blame the skipper myself! well from the start the doggies were a pain of all sizes most liking the squid as they do, rattling away all day i cant remember a period when they wernt bitting! Same with the whiting constant all day was great sport but on the other hand a pain! Big thanks to Bert for organising the trip also newbies onboard , looking forward to our next one hopefully colder with no doggies and a few cod thrown in. Enjoyable day guys many thanks to you all, good banter. All best. Jon (High Flyer2 )

Had a great day out on the 19 Aug 18 aboard the High Flyer. Loved the new boat, unfortunately nothing new about the Skipper, sorry Jon, just getting my own back lol, plenty of banter, tea/coffee and chocolate biscuits.
Me and Ed won't be leaving it too long until we book another day out.
Again cheers Jon for a great day out.

Wed 22nd aug headed out with DXB Water Company ended up 11 miles from port on a bit of ground we dont often fish. Very surprised with small fish in form of a foot long spurdog same with a tope, and perfect little skate one no bigger than a side plate lovely to see nature breeding next years sport hopefully. Ended up with ten small skate returned few spotty dogs, got beaten by a strong southerly breeze instead of the 7 to ten mph westerly forcast! Ended up back inside for some pin whiting and odd small smoothy. Was a enjoyable day looking forward to next trip big thanks to Derek Ball for organising everyone. Cheers jon (High Flyer 2)

Todays trip headed out past the 12 mile mark in search of few tope, tried our luck at feathering for fresh mackerel, unfortunately had a whole 3!Plenty of weavers and sandeels though . Was a good job brought plenty bait. After a light bit of chumming we anchored up not long to wait and first reel screamed off to Paul Layton which turned out to be Pauls first tope. Just over 22lb not a bad fish plenty of scrap as they do. Not long after Paul again got the run with bigger fish which to be fair was a thirty but concerned in the heat for the fish was returned quick so we decided 25lb in the end but you can see from the picture here actual size. Well done to Paul we didnt get another run got quite lumpy and we came inside but had a good day despite the weather. First tope of the season everythings running late out Sat 18th got few places left another Tope Special if your interested get in quick. Thanks to everyone for the day looking forward to next one.

Bringing us up to date been extremely hot weather has put the fish off a little bit on the weaker tides. Mackerel have been patchy along with only one tope run so far very poor for this time of year but see what august brings. Nice few bass all returned of course due to the ban, biggest just under 9lb not quite double figure. Plenty of smoothounds best bait by far is peeler but still waiting for our hen crabs to moult been so strange the weather and how its affected everything. Still catching whitting on the inside on worm baits they dont seem to go away now have completely lost the spotty dogs now bit of a relief really to be honest. Odd thornback still coming in so mixed sport all round really. Picture today is of Anthony down on hoilday with decent bass of 8.5lb pb for him well done. Looking forward to August Monday 6th where we have a specialist tope trip £65 per head few places still available tide is perfect thats why date is chosen hope weather plays ball. Will organise few night trips if you want to go on the list please email or text will get first refusal picking tides so slack water is middle of the session to give you best fishing up or down the tide. Leave about 6pm home midnight so you can go to work next day ! Thats about it got a windy weekend ahead will see what happens. Until then tight lines everyone.

Keeping you up to date july 4th 2018 started off with the feathers usual hundreds of sandeels odd gurnard few small flatties. only half dozen mackerel still bit thin on the ground water seems to be clearing on about the ten mile mark. Had a quick go for tope one small run amounted to nothing. Decided to head inshore picking up few smoothounds and one skate pictured here today with holidaymakers Loius and Rebecca first time out on High Flyer 2. Decided with easterly wind pressing to head home and catch last few ours up north beach for few more smoothys cant complain about the day with a east blowing as well could of done with few more but isnt that always the case! Big thanks to everyone for the day and thanks to Ian and James for washing down very much appreciated. Hope to see you all soon. Cheers Jon (High Flyer 2)

Report right up to date last trip 26th June Tuesday 2018, started off on the feathers lots of sandeels on the banks few gurnard and odd flatty. Had dozen or so mackerel lets hope its the start of them! Jumped over few wrecks no cod just odd coaley to our surprise usual pouting and whiting water not great viz yet on 15 mile mark. Ended up the day on inshore mark to produce couple small bass and cracking smoothound of 17lb 3oz pictured here caught by Gordon Popplewell using ragworm uptiding. Fish stayed deep till the end thought it was a tope to start when she surfaced. Lovely fish good weight for our area best we have had onboard our vessel so new record for us and a PB for Gordon. Released unharmed well done Gordon be a hard fish to beat for our area.
So looking ahead will be advertising few specialist tope trips soon as they appear also our night trips 6pm till midnight keep eye out for them also on Facebook under High Flyer Sea Fishing Trips too, until then tight lines people.

Up to date June 7th 2018 been getting few rokers (thornback rays) most returned nice to see conservation, chased the mackerel in all the usual places out to about 15miles but nothing showed up yet . plenty of sandeels few gurnards and odd weaver on the feathers waters not too bad after about 12 miles bit of clarity. Been plagued with spotty dogs on some trips but all good sport keeping us busy still got the whiting im afraid one or two clonkers amongst them surprisingly. The cold weather few weeks ago putting the smoothounds back just getting the odd few decent ones mainly on peeler and as we have been keeping away from the bass spots only the odd schoolie weve caught all due to the total ban on them. So in all things have picked up a bit waiting for our first tope will be looking for them soon dont forget to look out for our specialist trips or if you have a certain date we can possibly accomadate you and make a trip up for you. Picture today of Eric Wright from Bedford with this weeks best roker of 10.5lb just broke the double figure mark believed it fell to fresh sandeel and herring coctail from memory. Wind back in the north for this weekend will be interesting to see what happens lets hope the winds are light as forcast! Until then tight lines everyone. Jon (High Flyer 2)
