Been a very windy week gusts up to 45mph from storm Brian lost most days but managed to sneak out Sun 22nd as wind turned west. Hugged the shore as we had to only boat there! We had fish right from the start to finish basically whitting and doggies a cast on a quite strong tide. Picture of few keeper whitting.Fish returned were 4 small codling, 3 small female skate, shame wernt bigger but early days for cod. Water temp at 14 degrees at moment not cod water but should start to get colder soon nearly november.! Big thanks to Dean for organising everybody much appreciated looking forward to next trip.
Few dates left for weekends up till xmas at the moment dont get caught out, have new diary and tide timetables for 2018 now so tope or wrecking trips get sorted before they go. Will be starting few night trips soon as few more cod appear 6pm till midnight same cost keep eye on website, until then tight lines people. Cheers Jon (High Flyer 2)

Bringing us up to date very pleased with new vessel plenty of positive comments from most people especially the press button flush toilet! You would think the snazzy rod holders or seating arrangements no the bog! Its been great couple of weeks really all local boats catching some last minute thornbacks most of ours returned to be honest great for conservation as you can see by the photos. Plenty of very small skate mainly females all returned not worth a picture but great to see. The smoothounds have gone means water is getting colder spotty dogs a pain still one a cast really and yes the whitting are here in numbers keeping us too busy the little bait robbers. Few nice ones among them biggest so far 47cm for us. We have had few codling but still too warm need them leaves off the trees and icy windscreens dont think it will be too much longer lots of geese flying overhead now.Picture today of Trevor Pankhurst had a good few skate with us over the week from London thanks for coming out Trevor.Looking ahead soon as codling appear in reasonable numbers will arrange few night trips as to the weekends ahead limited space now up to xmas do get booked in or i wont be able to get you on Sat/Sun . Midweek trips will make trips up if you fancy certain dates get in touch. So looking forward to our next chapter winter, cup of soups, thermals on, and me in a heated wheelhouse!!! Hopefully see you soon on High Flyer 2. Jon

Pleased to announce new vessel High Flyer 2 is now in service a Procharter P4 with Cummins 480HP turbo cruising around 20 knots capable of 30 knots if you want to pay for the fuel! Main feature is 4 metre beam with comfortable seating all round with outside deck toilet, press button eco flush system no more going downstairs feeling ill! Faster boat will come into use with our offshore trips cutting travelling time down more fishing. Latest Akios reels and Ugly Stik rods in use at the moment keeping the coding to ten plus two still even though we could have increased passengers the thought was to give maximum comfort and space. Obviously full safety spec , lifejackets available on request, safety briefing before every trip as usual.

We do use the Paypal Deposit System on the website of £20 per place booked fully refundable on bad weather etc due to the increasing problem of non showing persons leaving us standing on the quay particularly annoying when you refuse others because the boat is full. Please dont be offended by this unfortunately in place due to a small minority of people.
Website up to date daily so reliable, if you wish us to make up a trip on a certain date we will do our best to do so we cater for single bookings, boat bookings must cover the ten places financially up to you how many you divide that by, specialist trips catered for wrecking etc. Normal inshore trips £45 per head using own tackle , add £5 using ours to cover losses /replacement.

So looking forward to being of service, cod season should be upon us shortly dont miss out as weekend dates are going already up to xmas hope you can join us on High flyer 2. Until then,
    tight lines everyone.

Well its been a poor start weather wise to September cant remember ever such windy conditions most trips have been keeping us inshore. Despite that plenty of fish mainly on the small side to be honest plagued with small spotty dogs some trips others picked up few skate with some of the last remaining smoothounds before they go one or two nice sizes. Havent been able to get to the bass banks so hence no recent photos not worth photographing the odd small schoolie were getting but great to see our future stocks present. The whiting starting to come in in numbers now those anglers keeping a few have been about 35cm plus the limit of 27cm i think is too small personally, pretty soon they will become a serious pain as always but it all adds to the sport. Reports of codling from further south is good news so hopefully wont be too long before they visit us need some cold weather to start , leaves off the trees and ice on the windscreens cant wait myself! Next report will cover our new vessel should be operational in next week when will fill you in on details and pictures. Until then tight lines everyone.

Bringing us up to date had adverse weather one day flat calm next northerly wind! Pulled few codling on inshore wrecks nice to see, couple of coalfish which we rarely see here , lost few tope runs as well this week bit frustrating.! The pouting and whitting bit of a pain at times the mackerel have broken up a bit due to lots of cable laying where we normally go least thats my theory as affected the sandeels as well to be honest. Right inside we been getting few skate bit on the small side all returned of course along with spotty dogs of all sizes. The whitting making a showing now so here to stay no doubt till march April so just have to put up with it! when we can been nipping out to bass banks getting few decent fish as you can see most fish returned only couple of deep hooked fish kept well done lads for conservation. Still be trying for last tope next month then they go, soon be autumn looking forward to a cold winter with bit of luck need our cod to visit this year fingers crossed. New vessel coming next week ashould be operational then details and pictures to follow. Leave with this picture of angler fish i believe one of the lads threw at us off commercial boat looks like someone i one dated! Tight lines everyone.

Not been the greatest summer to be honest all these lows we been having have affected the whole country. I think we have deserved every fish the anglers have worked hard most trips not been easy. Bit of good news we picked up half dozen small codling inshore on a wreck lets hope this winter is a cold one to bring our water temperature down to normal god knows we need it, also we are seeing lot more school bass not worth a picture but great to see our future sport probably down to the drift netting ban giving them half a chance. We will be going for a few mackerel when we can weather allowing, bass on the banks hopefully few nice tope we need to beat the 50lb mark this season so heres waiting! Unfortunately the whiting are showing up again but adds to the sport small influx of skate inside nice to get a few. Well done to everyone this year we have kept only 1 bass so far this season great to see conservation and most female skate been thrown back as well. It all helps. Looking forward to this weekend as weaker tides hopefully light winds bit of drifting i think on the banks see what we can find.
Dont forget winter dates are going fast website up to date dont leave it till last minute! Picture today of Gary pressganged with small cod serves you right for catching 6 different species ! Until then tight lines people.
    Cheers Jon (High Flyer)

Headed out on the banks today been very windy last week weather not great, had bit of a stir up. The mackerel and sandeels were not having it today just managed few whiting on the feathers. After anchoring up our first bass came in to Duncan of 5lb followed by a move then 7lb to Emily first bass for her. To top it off Mandy with a cracking 9lb all fish returned nice to see a bit of conservation. Finished the day off inshore ended up with a couple small roker Fern and Mandy hooking up was a ladies day today lads outfished. With a huge great downpour thunder and lightening we headed in earlier than usual, great day all round, big thanks to all today especially Louise for organising everyone, looking forward to the next time,

2 Jul 2017 by jon old

Now into July when anglers may keep one bass per day 42cm in length, has caused few problems over past months but we dont make the laws as skippers we just have to enforce them unpaid for the task i might add! We have kept away from our bass grounds to avoid these situations having lost saturday 1st july to the weather decided to try on the banks for bass. Paid off with Dave Jones pictured here with a cracking 9 pounder fish was returned unharmed, great to see conservation Dave top marks mate. was a personal best for Dave who also caught few weeks ago our biggest smoothound to date of 15lb another PB for him. Day wasnt fantastic but managed smoothounds and still pesky whiting about was bit limited due to the lumpy conditions but was a good day enjoyed it. Big thanks to everyone hoping to see few more crackers soon time will tell.
    Tight lines everyone.
