This report covers the weekend of 23rd/ 24th/25th May, bank holiday, the weather not been kind at all the wind unfortunately stopping all offshore work. We had to work around the tides this weekend and basically make the most of it so big thank you and well done to all my customers every fish was well earned. Apart from the heavy downpours sunday we managed a dry monday but the light winds forcast was not to be. Fished north of the turbines Sat had few decent smoothies and doggies most of the day, Sun was quite poor fish size wise but had a few codling thrown in , only small smoothies today showing up but ended up home early with everyone soaking wet not a great day. Mon was better still bit blowy to go offshore so fished off Lowestoft front with a reasonable day few nice bass pictured here , no skate or cod today plenty of pin whiting still proving a pain. Big thanks to all the anglers on High Flyer this bank holiday weekend, nice to see few new faces as well, bit of a hard one but enjoyable all the same, looking forward to being of service again soon, until then tight lines everyone. Strong tides today all play had to be inshore in the shallower water , decided to try little mark i use for some skate as tide eased but they let me down! Unfortunately doggies were on the menu today from here and a few smoothies and we wont mention the double whiting hookup by Karl. Stayed till the tide was right on slack, the wind decided to increase a bit making few rollers appear not that great so headed north for a bit of shelter up the top end near Caister . Again more doggies nothing else but, by now the strong tide racing through was job to hold bottom so moved again and hid up in ley of the outer harbour which paid off. Few more fish again still the same species with a welcome flatty thrown in. As tide eased headed back to our spot to catch yes you guessed more dogs and smoothies! Was an enjoyable day though we worked around the tide and managed to hold our own in the wind and got reasonable day in.Lads pictured here with there keepers from the day nice little meal the spotty dogs people forget that. Few new faces on the Flyer today thanks to Ethan and grandad David, and Martin all first timers and regulars Lee, Karl, Trevor and Dave for crewing. Look forward to our next session where i hope we dont catch a single dogfish! All the best. Jon.( High Flyer.)

Cracking start to the day weather wise forcast light wind sun was out with calm seas pleasure just to be out. Makes a change from the last few trips! Due to the tide time decided to fish straight away inshore a little hole i use here and there off the channel hoping for few skate. Was bit of a slow start with few doggies coming aboard, then one codling appeared only one of the day. as tide weakened our luck changed ended up with 3 rokers more dogs and few smoothounds and couple of dreaded whiting. The wind picked up slightly NE nothing major , clouded over too so decided on the start of the flood to head north up the turbines. Paid off with doggies and smoothies from the start but after a hour the deeper water was a bit hard to hold bottom so came right inshore to another hole i use in the summer. Biggest fish of the day fell to Jonsey pictured here with 8lb smoothy nice start to the season, was a good day in all with fish pretty constant throughout the day to be honest. Big thanks to all the lads was a most enjoyable day most first time on the High Flyer, looking forward to seeing you all again at some point. Until then all the best. Jon. (High Flyer)

Todays trip started well winds being same as forcast light southerly
so decided to head to a 4 mile bass spot as armed with fresh rag and
few peelers. Within 5 mins our first bass of the season came in which
was pleasing was thinking this is going to be a good day. Wasnt long
till the wind picked up turned SE waves got bit naughty so had to head
in. Had few doggie and smoothies from the mark too in all not bad for
an hours fishing. Moved inshore still too lumpy inside so only option
was to hide up right on the beach behind the outer harbour thats how
lumpy it had become, full marks to everyone as we had young ones on
board . Had nice mixed bag in all few keepers pictured here with some
of Barrys team on the wall back home due to the weather! Got away with
the day in the end ,few in the bag for tea and everyone safe was
enjoyable day apart from me spilling every cup of tea i made! British
weather hey. Thanks again to Barry for organising another day looking
forward to next months trip. Cheers. Jon. (High Flyer)

Easterly wind today generally a hard fish as the old saying goes! Was too lumpy outside the bank today so stayed inshore as we have a run at the moment of mixed bag up the inside as luck would have it. Started off with two nice end of season codling coming aboard few doggies too and some very tiny smoothies lovely to see fishtank size! As tide slackend was pin whiting time but a bit of sport then decided to move right inshore in the hope of a bass or two as the ebb started. No bass today for us little buggers are not in numbers yet still water temperature down for this time of year proved by another small codling coming aboard and more whiting. Ended the day with a right mixed bag few flatties thrown in, mainly spotty dogs all day and few smoothies to add, no skate for us today but in fairness wasnt expecting them in a easterly wind. Thanks to Josepth and the lads from Maderia (bit of a fishing change for them) also John and Terry and lads here Tauridas, pictured with few doggies of the day for the table. Got a bit lumpy at end the day so came in slightly earlier , thought everyone done well despite the conditions, was a good day in the end. Thanks lads look forward to seeing you soon. Jon. Today was the months biggest spring tide had to work hard today trying to dodge the water, hid up in the bay to start with few doggies coming in and small whiting from the start. As the water eased we tried a little wreck spot inshore which has proved good in the past but was bit slow so tried another bank close by right up to slack. Few dogs again plus small flatty or two so headed down the Roads to pick up the start of the ebb. Wind was bit on strong side so wind against tide things started getting a small lump on. Was expecting the codling to show but not one! Sarah caught our first skate of the season so picture of her here the fish returned for another day, well done Sarah. After few more dogs and whiting decided to move back up the bay to calmer water to catch more of the same. Wasnt a bad day in all shame no cod. Thanks to everyone pitching in and washing down, thanks to Barry and his team of regulars along with Norwich lads Dave,Jason and Daniel, and Lee and Collin much appreciated hope we get the skate on your next booking! All the best,
    Jon. (High Flyer)

Very weak tides today causes a problem sometimes as codling like that run of tide to feed so decided to stick to the deepest water today possible. Bit of a effort as the wind although westerly/southwest was rather strong today! So made the best of a bad job and stuck outside the other boats today in the Roads in a little hole i often use as a back up if busy down there. Paid off today with a slow start i must say, apart from few showers and one 52mph gust we ended up with over 20 plus keepers, couple of doggies and countless pin whiting one or two keepers amongst them. Returned a few skiny codling and lost a few falling off today and one or two undersize so quite pleased for this time of year. No flatties today for us was quite pleased to get in after a day being blown about!

Still having problems with the good old british weather decided to go today as much calmer start today with the knowledge that later on was going to be touch and go. Forcast was 50 to 60 mph in the chanel so wasnt going to be the best of days. Needed the shelter of the cliffs again so back to same old ground, slightly stronger tide today so better for our inshore codling. The elements were certainly against us bloody rain was like stair rods at times didnt let up for hours bit testing really. In the end rain cleared for a while few fish came aboard one or two nice keepers ended up with 22 in total , few on the limit thrown back well done boys for the conservation . Some pin whiting appeared as usual as water slackened off, once again the dreaded weed came on but today only lasted about a hour or so thank god. Ws a good day all round picture here of Barrys team regulars on High Flyer and also Panky and Eddy from Cambridge many thanks guys for bit of a testing day. As the wind was now gusting over 40mph we headed in just as the lightening pinked up the sky and the heavens opened perfect timing to end the day all home safe and sound. Cheers lads see you all soon,
    Jon. (High Flyer)
