Todays trip was with regulars from DXB Water Company with Derek Ball and friends. Weather was great and tides quite weak it was decided to try inshore on the spot we had a reasonable result from few days previous. Things paid off with codling coming in straight away aboard 24
in total, with 17 takers, all around 34 - 44cm, we also took 3 big whiting
35 -38 cm and had 5 good size dabs; not bad with just 4 anglers today . Picture today is Derek, with Keith with few of the keeper codling. Big thanks for helping out washing down, always a pleasure to see you guys, thanks also to Howard and Jeff, looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks where hopefully get out to deeper water to see if the biggies are following the herring that seems to have just showed up. All the best.

Forcast today of SW decided to head south of Lowestoft on the banks rather than Hemsby Hole as previous thoughts , wind against tide to start and a 2.8m tide raging through i was rather thinking fishing was going to be bit on the hard side! Had four first timers on the Flyer so no pressure, was on our mark within three quarters expecting to wait a while before the fish started feeding but straight away small codling onboard followed by few very tiny spotty dogs . The whiting were not quality fish like beginning of the week but todays were generally all small and returned to grow. Few more spotties through the day about a dozen, couple of flatties thrown in , no skate for us today or smoothounds which was strange. Ended up with 33 keeper codling average 2 to 3 pounds overall, returned quite a few smaller ones as well. Was a great start to the season for codling as we are in change over period water still warm really. Big thanks to Dave for catching too many, and all first timers on the Flyer Andy,Dan,Lawrie and Frank enjoyed the day men had a good result and thanks for washing down too! Todays results strengthen my belief we are going to have a good season this year hopefully bigger fish than previous years , looking forward to a bit of cold for once! All the best. Jon. High Flyer

Been a bit slack on the reports lately due to being out the water for winter refit now all done, plus last few trips not fantastic as in between summer/winter period so catching a few skate and doggies but also small winter codling and whiting making a show. Plenty of fish really bit on the small side but keeping the anglers busy better than nothing! Report covers weekend of 4/5th with Sat being very lumpy, strong southerly whipping the sea up, fishing wasnt too bad with Stephen pictured here with 3 nice skate, about dozen smoothies same for spotty dogs and whiting most of the day. Had to run for home early day at 2.30pm as sea turned bit nasty time to call it a day.
Totally different Sunday no wind, flat as your hat pleasure to be out, got let down by 6 anglers thanks lads its only my living, rest of us had cracking day weather wise no skate today unfortunately not sure why?. The whiting were on the bite all day practically, kept a few for the table , had about 20 smoothies all released back nice to see well done, about dozen spotty dogs as well all put back , big thanks to first timers Bob, Tia and Scott on High Flyer and regular Chris, many thanks for washing down. Good weekend in all thanks to everyone, looking forward to these codling coming in soon, need a few frosts! Please note as we are constantly getting let down we are now insisting on using our £20 per head deposit system to cure the problem, sorry to all those reliable ,dependable people out there. Cheers, Jon. High Flyer.

After yesterdays blow wind turned southwest stll a bit of swell on as tide flooded so decided to head south again keeping us inshore without any choice. Joined another couple of boats today nice to see people out, straight away into a codling nice keeper for Keith. Followed by a spotty dog and a whiting all within ten minutes of arriving on full flood! Stayed right up to slack water wind was quite blustery at times , ended up with few spotty dogs , numerous whiting few keepers and couple of thrown back codling extremely dark almost black in colour! Moved out to deeper water as tide started to ebb, jeff pictured here with biggest fish of the day nice smoothy around the 6 pound mark, apart from few small whiting and more spottys was quite poor on the ebb very strange. Had a final move up the top end of the Holm but getting too lumpy started dragging anchor moved right inside to finish the day off. wasnt fantastic day but had few fish all round few for the table good day had by all. Thanks to Derek for organising , along with Keith, Mike ,Chris,Paul and Jeff, much appreciated for cleaning down too! Look forward to our trips next month hopefully do some distance next time. All the best. Jon. (High Flyer)

Lumpy old day today, touch and go really to start, left at 9am to give ourselves a chance with these strong tides. Needed to find a bit of shelter wind against tide straight southerly on the nose so hid under the cliffs at Tramps Alley end to start. Started off ok surprised to find a few early whiting few keepers among them, some spotty dogs made a appearance along with a nice plump codling. As the day progreesed we headed out to the centre of the Roads in the deeper water caught few nice smoothies biggest around 5 to 6 lb mark, few more codling all returned well done lads for a bit of conservation. Even though within size limits nice to get a meal if you are going to keep them. Len pictured here with a surprised catch of a nice eel not that common as they used to be, ended up a real species day with flattie, whiting, eel, codling ,spotty dogs and smoothies! Nothing to shout about size wise today but kept us busy , was testing a bit with the rain but lads all done well and we got fish. Many thanks to Alan , Zak and Corey from Peterborough first time on the Flyer, along with regulars Dave,Len and Paul, was enjoyable day ,look forward to seeing you all again soon. All the best, Jon. Headed out today with light westerly forcast told the lads to feather up for sandeels as we left the harbour. 15 minutes later i looked a plonker as we headed into a ten foot swells of the wind farm and a strengthening northerly off the bow and after dodging a small boat i could hardly see in the lumps i ran back inside for cover yet once again! Decided to hold up in the Holes, produced a nice smoothy first off for Clive on holiday, few small followed but the weed came from nowhere making life impossible. Up anchor and headed south to Corton bank to join other charter boat weed free, caught straight away small spotty dogs, more smoothies and nice couple of skate one pictured here, with regular on High Flyer, Dave Mingay. Was very lumpy offshore so stayed inside all day but had reasonable amount of sport all round with few whiting now making a show and the odd early codling. Many thanks to Chris, mark and Andy, Clive and Dave and locals John and Dave, was good day of banter appreciate the lads with distance making the trip shame we couldnt get out but thats the weather! All the best . Jon. High Flyer

Windy old day again whats new? Hands tied once again making us stay inshore we decided to try our winter spot down at good old Corton. Started a bit slow, few small smoothies came aboard, bit too slow for my liking decided to have a move slightly further off in the deeper water. The move paid off with a few small codling bit amazed to see this time of year, then to add insult to injury whiting decided to make a show!
One lucky person pictured here caught a nice size lobster David Mingay most popular angler on the boat that day, to top it all Ian who caught another lobster few months ago was on too! How bizzare! Few more smoothies to finish the day off , moved up to the flatty ground on the ebb but very poor for them, just more small smoothies. Enjoyed the day despite the wind not allowing us out, everyone caught a few fish, thanks to all the lads and hope Dave enjoyed his posh meal!
    all the best.

Today was first bit of relief from the wind for once, still looking for those scarce mackerel we decided to catch first slack so was all a hour early. First bank produced sandeels as expected ,few weavers thrown in, second bank the same more sandeels, third bank more sandeels!!! No mackerel at all again just not cricket! Passed over a inshore wreck very forgiving with little snags, bagged a few nice cod pictured here with John, biggest seven pound, returned several undersized and just over the limit, Headed out north to the Newarp and sat in a perfect position had great sport from here over the years apart from today . A few flatties was all to show for it , plus a half eaten whiting taken by what we presume would be a tope but stories of megladon sound better. Ended up the day coming inshore to catch handfull of smoothies on the inshore mark, wasnt the greatest of days but thousands of sandeels, few flatties, smoothies and too many weavers and few nice cod and it didnt rain what better way to spend the day. Many thanks to Carl for organising the trip, look forward to seeing you boys soon.
    Cheers. Jon. High Flyer.

Been a bit slack on the reports lately mainley due to the fact we have lost a number of trips with these strong North easterlys , trips we have managed have been mostly inshore due to the wind very testing this suppossed summer so far here on the east coast. Unfortunately the mackerel came in just before these winds last month and then totally dissapeared again now coming back thank god with tremendous amounts of sandeels most i ever seen i reckon. Lovely to store as bait some so huge you think mackerel are on the string. Smoothounds still hanging about decent sizes now, skate moved a bit further off i found and thank god the spotty dogs seemed to have followed! Looking forward to some more eveng trips with a bit of calm water, also as the mackerel return the tope too so will target them on the further banks weather allowing. Anyone interested in a offshore tope or bass trip let us know as exploring some new ground heading north normally puts about £25 extra on our normal trip price to cover fuel.Leaving you with a picture of the weather lately for you to enjoy. Hope to see you soon. Jon. High Flyer
