Todays party was a good bunch of lads first time on the High Flyer, plenty of good banter etc. options given by me and they chose South so we headed into the Roads to be met with a very annoying wind that wasnt forcast but still luckily in our favour. Unfortunately the tide wasnt which slowed the immediate fishing up but we cant help that. No cod showed up for us today, plenty of whiting but not in the usual numbers we have been catching still need a cold spell. Pictured here our group in the dark! Thanks to Andy for organizing the trip, son eddy, with collegues Mark,Peter,Paul,Chris,Craig,Tim,Mel and Jim and also Paul for crewing. Thanks for an enjoyable day, hope to see you soon.

A big thanks to John on the High Flyer for a great days fishing. Caught plenty of Whiting but the damn Cod were evasive as ever. John is a great skipper taking us to all the spots to make sure fish were caught. Tea and Coffee constantly flowing (needed in the bitter weather). Would definatley recommend a day out fishing on the High Flyer. We will be back next Summer. this time though instead of the Waterproofs we'll be wearing our Speedos and Flipflops!!!! Thanks again John for a great day regards Lee, Wayne and birthday boy Barry..

Headed out today, lucky slot in the recent weather , tides perfect for us, SW on an ebb flattening the inshore Roads for a reasonably comfortable day even with a strong wind. Apart from the showers and the cold air, we caught plenty whiting, few keepers biggest at 43cm. Only one flattie today down to the full moon and strong tides i reckon, one small pouting to me which i never caught close inshore ever! Big thanks to Lee,Wayne, and birthday boy Barry, pictured middle, from Canvey Island, also lads from Bolton, George,Neil,Paul,Dave and Tony for organizing them. Sorry no cod today guys, still waiting patiently for them, however glad the whiting kept us busy. Thanks for coming out on the High Flyer, safe journey home lads. Jon.

Bit of a uncomfortable day to start, horrible easterly rockin and rollin, causing a few casuaulties! Fog still lingering so kept inshore in the Roads, whiting from the off! Stayed there still the slack , and decided to catch some flatties off the bank just off the Holme. Nice little result two at a time here and there still with whiting! Ended our day inside off the Swan to use up the worms, plenty of decent whiting again, no cod for us yet, just a lovely little thornback to end the day off for Andy , pictured here. Big thanks to Chris Lomax for treating the lads from his team, Dean,Steve,Owen,Collin,Wayne, also Andy,Derek and Rodger, always a pleasure and a good laugh with you guys! See you all soon, much appreciated. Jon

Foggy old day with little viz to start down to 20mtrs at times, thought best to fish inside the Roads for safety reasons. Weak tides today and gentle NE, started off with whiting , and more whiting and guess what more whiting! Moved position after slack start of the flood further back up to Corton Church, few flatties thrown in with same old whiting. Few keepers in amongst them, tried our hardest for early cod but still none. Moved out to inshore wreck beaten by prolific weed so finished up back inside by the White Swan. Whiting all day, plenty of sport. Big thanks to Lawrence for organizing the day,Charlie,Luke,Vicky and Jimmy,Lewis,Lee and Toby. Would like to add a personal well done to you all today, very nice to see conservation minded anglers taking couple of fish for the table and returning most, wish people would follow your example sometimes.Pleasure to have you aboard, hope to see you guys soon. All the best. Jon.

Small numbers today on board plenty of room , those who didnt turn up missed cracking weather for this time of year. Headed out to 5 mile bank, plenty of whitting, few spotted dogs still, and flatties. Caught the slack just before the flood started seemed today the fish wanted a bit of tide run to feed. Not to much weed thank god lately been plagued by it. After lunch moved inshore in the Roads further south ,catching decent size whitting on the ebb, no cod for us today, patchy reports of codling, still too warm.Big thanks to our small party today of regulars Ian,Dave,James and from Stoke on holiday Laura and Jamie pictured with few whitting that were kept. Enjoyed the day, hoping the cod will be in soon for us! Jon.

First ever experience fishing, and even more exciting that it was at sea, and we could eat what we caught.

Little bit daunted by the fact that me and my mum were inexperienced both with boats and with fishing, but we held our own and caught the same, if not more, than some of the seasoned experts with a little help and banter.

As a day out it was lovely to go out onto the open waters of a coastline that we regularly walk the dog along.

Lessons i have learnt from the day are; to pack sun cream (whatever the weather) wear wellies (whatever the weather) and make sure that all valuables are in a zip pocket (our skipper Jon demonstrated the dangers by loosing his camera to the sea) and probably a good idea to take sickness pills....just incase!

Already looking forward to the next trip (maybe in warmer weather) as i am now clearly and expert "jigger"

Today our hands were tied as regards the tide , we needed to fish straight away as slack was upon us. we headed into the Roads straight into whitting a plenty and few flatties. Moved slightly inshore as other boats turned up still catching whitting , few keepers among them. After few hours we decided to move again offshore to the Corton bank staying until nearly slack still with the whitting! Moved again to the 5 mile mark to try our luck on a wreck over slack results were terrible. One mackerel for our efforts, water not clear enough. Ended our day back on the bank for the last hour few flatties and whitting again! Thanks to Noel,Kev,Adam,Mike,Lee,Rob,James,Alan and Steve, much appreciated men, needs to be a bit colder for those cod. Sorry about the couple of hundred whitting! jon.

Had a day out wreck fishing on High Flyer. We knew it was going to be hard work as this year has not been very good for wrecking. First time on this boat with Jon Old the skipper who I must say realy looks after you and tries his hardest to find you some fish. He made tea and coffee all day bacon rolls for lunch with chocolate bars coming out in the afternoon. All I can say now is a nice boat with a very good skipper and I would recommend him very highly.
