Lee. Fab days fishing with you on 6th July 2013.
mackeral in large numbers made a great start to the day. lee put us on rough ground before the other boats followed. we had 2 good drifts with cod and ling being caught on baited pirks and hockeyes. things eased off in the afternoon, but i was encouraged on by lee and Jeff still fishing over over ground lee put us on. my fishing mate john always says, better to see the skipper fishing with than sat in the wheelhouse asleep.
me and john enjoyed our first trip out from hartlepool in twenty years.Easy access to boat via floating pontoon. Booked for east dene wmc lads on 4th Aug 2013. Can't wait to get back and have the same crack.
Cheers lee to you and your crew.

Left the Marina at half six this morning and had two full tubs of large mackerel by 7. Good to see them on the ground that size. Moved over a couple of wrecks before heading out onto the ground, wrecks seemed a bit hit or miss. Found a nice spot on the ground and drifted over it half a dozen times, was very productive, some good size ling caught as-well as a few cod. All in all, a good days fishing with a good bunch of lads.

Tip of the day- Large pink hokeyes with macky bait.

Well what a change, for what seamed ages in the cod catch rate over the past few weeks some people were actually catching cod .
The day started slow with only a few fish being caught in the morning on rough ground and as the wind started to increase , it was very hard to do any wreck fishing,so we continued to use the marks we had on our plotter to target some good ground that produced a good few cod well into the afternoon.
Most fish caught were from 4.5lb to just over 7lb , but nice fresh cod they were too.
No sign of any mackerel yet on any of the ground we covered today , but if the cod are late , so must be the mackerel .
To sum up it was a good day for most on board today ,with over 20+ cod being caught , and me only catching a single cod,as did the skipper .........................Oh and the skipper Lee catching a extra one ........................a large rock...........hahahaha

The morning started off with a flat sea state as we set off out of the marina , with hardly a breath of wind .
Stopping at a chosen mark to fill the bait boxes with mackerel,we headed out even further , the very first drop produced a nice Ling for Denis Bray of around 9lb , and a few cod came in , again around the 8-9lb ,as the day got on the wind started to freshen up , and the sea state became choppy , and a little rough ,but this produced some nice fish , and a ling of 19.2oz to David .
As the afternoon came Lee (skipper ) continued to find the fish, and we were into some good Cod 7-9lb , and Ling into double figures , the fish continued for a couple of hours as we moved around the ground ,by this time the sea was getting a bit on the large side ,and it was getting difficult to hold bottom very well , so we headed back to the marine.
All in all it was a good days fishing for everyone on board ,and everyone took home fish.

me and my mate had never been on the wandering star before so we were both unsure what to expect although turns out we didnt have to as they were extremely helpful giving tips whenever they could and we both caught decent sized cod, between us we caught 7 cod. Great days fishing and we will be using them again without a doubt in the very near future. Thanks a lot Lee and John will be seeing you both very soon :-D

We set out from the marina at 4.40am and headed out to the ground , by 5.30 pm there were lots of cod coming aboard from the first drop, after the first drift we had landed over 12 cod , Lee with a 12lb cod and myself with a nice pair of cod of around 7lb each.
Mackerel were really thick to get through at times , but were a fare size non the least .
The lads from Nottingham started off really well ,and continued to do so with lots of mackerel coming aboard in there droves, and even more cod being taken on shads.
John from West Auckland had a really productive day with lots of good size cod from 6lb to around 12lb mark
We continued to drift over our ground taking even more cod .
By the afternoon the wind had started to pick up and the sea became a bit choppy, and we were pushed along by the wind to cover even more ground............... with even more fish being caught
A tremendous day was had by all , and everyone went home with good sized fish.
Definitely one of my better days with Wandering Star and skipper Lee.
