Fishing the First match of the Scarborough Boat Angling Club today.
the The Monkman and Ridehalgh Memorial Match.
Only had the two lads fishing today, as the forecast wasn't brilliant and the other lads booked didn't want to risk driving through encase the trip had to be cancelled.
its was drisly and gray most of the day but all of us had a good days fishing with a good few Mops. Bernard managed to get a cracking conger weighing 13lb un-gutted which was great to see for the land rock.
Bernard manged to get 1st place in the match and the skipper manged to get 4th with a 5lb Cod. unfortunately Mike fillet all his fish on the journey back but if he waited until the weigh in he would of managed 5th place.
a great way to start the new season. and well done Bernard and all the other who fished the match. -

Saturday 15th November 2014
The Skylark has brought Santa claws to to the town for several years.
this year was again a fantastic turnout with thousands of people lined around Scarborough Harbour.
He then boarded his sleigh and joined a parade featuring staff from Boyes; making his way up Eastborough, St Thomas Street and along Queen Street.
Santa has now taken up residency in his grotto at Boyes. -

Rough Ground still fishing well
we had a 6 hour trip and a 3 hour trip today with several cod and pollock caught, conditions were far from perfect with a strong wind all day.
the 6 hour trip produced some good size cod and Pollock between 3 and 5lb and loads of mackerel, but when we got out again on our 3 hour trip the wind and tide were in the same direction and we were drifting to fast so we ended up anchoring up and bait fishing which produce a few nice fish. -

Skylark was used as a passenger and safety vessel by the Kingfishers sea swimming club.
the first leg started from Staithes and the swimmers swam for 1/2 hour intervals as part of a relay.
in the first day the swimmers managed to cover 17.2 miles in 8 1/2 hours.
unfortunately due to weather and sea conditions they couldn't continue the swim the second day and continued the swim 2 weeks later.
the swimmers worked hard even with jelly fish brushing over them.
in total they swam the North Yorkshire Boundary, Staithes to Speeton in 17hrs 18mins 19secs -
