Report on-board Dawn Venture
hottest day afloat since I was in the arabian gulf!! loads of mackerel at the bell buoy this morning and a 3 1/2lb codling...shows they are anywhere! a day spent on the 5 mile reef produced 8 codling upto 4lb,7 ling to 6lb and loads of throw-back whiting , pout and gurnard

a 3 hour evening trip out to the reef marker produced more than enough mackerel.... customers were
aged 7 - 65 and we caught at least 200 between 5 fishers! View Boats Page

another short trip but ventured to the north end of the 5 mile reef and it paid dividends.....Zoe(1st timer!) caught an 11lb ling and her partner a 5lb ling.....they'd never been afloat before! also 8 codling to 8lb, small haddocks,strap ling,whiting and pouting and a 3/4lb red gurnard.....another for the festivals species board!

took 3 guys out today and after yesterdays easterly blow the water was dirty...only a 3 hour trip so we tried the inshore wrecks and rough ground,nothing major but managed a 3lb haddock,2lb whiting and a 1lb dab....if only the lads were in the summer festival we would've made it onto the species board......ah well!

2 short trips today...yesterdays easterly wind stirred up the water and made the mackerel non-existant inside 3 miles....we did however manage a 3lb haddock, a 2lb whiting, a 1lb dab plus pout and gurnard this morning and then this afternoon (2 hr trip)we managed at least 60 whiting coming up 2 and 3 at a time inside 1 mile...............as always we try for less travelling and more fishing!

what a difference a day makes,yesterday(sunday 1st) terrible...today at the 5 mile mark we had 4 codling to 4lb, 1 x 11lb cod ,30 mackerel and loads of whiting,pout ,strap ling and loads of undersize codling and all on a 5 hour trip!

mackerel have truly arrived in strength with over 300 being landed today(saturday) from the 5 mile grounds...not much else due to strong wind and tide combination
